The interiors at Verran Road were designed to make a compact duplex feel far more spacious than the footprint might suggest.

Vaulted ceilings, big windows, and a restrained material palette help create a sense of space, and the final result is far beyond what you’d expect of a typical duplex.

Big shoutout to who were the minds behind the design!

Our entry is in for House of the Year!

This was one of those dream projects where our team worked by Big Manly Beach all summer long on an ambitious build. Technically, there were a lot of details that needed our close attention, as you can see by the interior shots, but we're so proud of our crew for the final result.

Special mention to for the designs, alongside the wider team involved in bringing this one to life.

A bird’s-eye view of our recently completed duplex development, which is tucked into a tight site overlooking the gully.

Despite being a smaller site, the layout makes the most of every square metre, with vaulted ceilings helping create a real sense of space throughout. Each home includes three bedrooms, a single garage, and carefully considered detailing that gives the project a much larger feel than the footprint might suggest – which is a great result for both the client and the incoming tenants!

We're underway on a new family home in Coatesville. The slab is now down and drainage complete, so we're setting things up for pre-nail as work continues across the next stage of the build.

Plenty happening on site over the coming weeks as this one starts to take shape!

The anatomy of an entranceway.

It’s easy to look at something like this and see a clean, simple finish, but there’s a fair bit that happens behind the scenes from some very talented people to bring it to life.

The project started with the client, a designer himself, approaching us with a vision to create an entryway using an exotic timber that would cultivate a unique experience.

It was designed to read as one continuous element, using Iroko timber across both the door and surrounding wall. There’s even a hidden door built into the lining, so nothing breaks that surface.

The timber itself needed time. Iroko, a West African hardwood, starts out light yellow, but the brief called for a deeper tone. So we left it to weather naturally before applying the coating, which locks in the colour at that exact point.

Of course, getting it right meant we needed support from the best.

The custom timber fabrication was taken care of by Next Level Joinery, the steel joinery was supplied and installed by Crittall Steel, Woodstar supported us with the timber coating, the door was finished with Frits Jurgens pivot hardware and a custom brass handle, and finally Tindalls Electrical sussed the integrated LED lighting.

So, perhaps not that simple, but definitely worth the effort.

Don’t take our word for it.

We’ve been lucky to work with some great people over the years, and these are the kind of relationships we aim to build on every project.

Big thanks to these guys for all the kind feedback!

Here’s another familiar face: the founder himself, Jesse Bird.

After completing his apprenticeship, Jesse started NZ Builders in 2015 off the back of hands-on experience in high-end residential construction and a clear idea of how projects should be run. His focus was straightforward – transparent comms and a professional approach to project management, as he knew these were areas where cracks often appeared in client relationships.

That foundation still shows in how we operate today. Jesse stays close to the work, across everything happening on site, making sure projects are running to programme and there are no surprises for clients. It’s a practical, detail-driven approach that keeps things moving and avoids the usual friction.

He’s also just a great bloke who doesn’t mind a bit of chat. When you work with NZ Builders, you’ll be seeing a fair bit of Jesse, and you couldn’t be in a safer pair of hands!

We’re underway in Orakei, and we’ve been looking forward to this one for a while (to say the least!).

As is clear from the renders, have designed something pretty special here, and we feel very honoured to be tasked with bringing the concept to life. It's our third project with JCA, and as always, we're thankful for the trust!

Plenty more to come with this one, so stay tuned.

Job done!

This Point Chev project started as small maintenance work and, like a lot of good projects do, grew into something much bigger. What began as a few updates turned into a full renovation, covering the kitchen, bathrooms, flooring, garage door, new stone walls, and more!

Landscaping by helped shape how the home sits and flows outdoors, while delivered the kitchen and cabinetry, which really anchors the interior.

We completed the interior fitout, tying everything together into a home that feels considered, practical, and built to last. A great client, a smooth process, and another project to be proud of!
