Ever said no to an initiative, then found it back on someone's workload months later?
Maybe the decision wasn't wrong. People just couldn't find the reasoning behind it.
Here's why your "no" needs to outlast the planning meeting:

Strategic Prioritization: Why Your “No” Doesn’t Stick Strategic Prioritization: Why Your “No” Doesn’t Stick Every planning cycle produces a list of things you decided not to do: a market you chose not to enter, a program you chose not to build, an initiative that got a fair hearing and still didn't make the cut. Deciding what

The organizations most likely to avoid AI project cancellations will not just have better models. They will have stronger ownership and portfolio visibility across every initiative, including AI. AI works better when it is part of unified business planning.

Every strategic plan walks a line: ambitious enough to matter, realistic enough to execute.

Is Your Strategic Plan Too Ambitious? Or Not Ambitious Enough? How ambitious should your strategic plan be? Aim too low, and you may settle for incremental gains. Aim too high, and you risk overwhelming the organization. Finding the right balance requires looking beyond the target itself to the problem you’re solving, the resources and talent available, and t...

Ownership matters more than AI hype.
McKinsey’s 2026 AI Trust Maturity Survey found organizations with clear AI governance scored 2.6, compared with 1.8 for those without it.
The takeaway is straightforward: AI initiatives need a named owner, clear visibility, and measurable success.
