Back in 1988, kiwi owner David Graves, developed a Garden Bag that could stand open by itself. Today that small business has grown into an online garden store featuring a huge range of products. A potager is the French kitchen garden: veges, herbs and flowers planned together, grown to feed you and look good doing it. Which makes planning one suspiciously like planning a dinner party. A guest list, a seating chart, staggered arrivals, half the seats saved for flowers, and someone who has to sit alone. Sorry fennel. The full plan is on the blog, link in stories. Macrophylla. Paniculata. Arborescens. Quercifolia. Relax, you're here to prune hydrangeas, not learn Latin. Fat buds sitting on the bare stems? It flowers on old wood, trim lightly. Last summer's flowerheads shaped like cones, or floppy white pompoms? They flower on new wood, cut hard.
