🐟 Helping protect Lake Tomarata
To manage pest fish populations (rudd and tench) before spring, Lake Tomarata will be temporarily closed on 24-25 August 2026.
While the reserve stays open, please:
🔹Stay out of the water
🔹Do not use boats on the lake
🔹Keep dogs away from the water. Gill nets are installed and could pose a snag risk.
Signs will be in place to remind visitors of the temporary restrictions.
The nets will be removed on Tuesday afternoon, with the lake reopening for normal swimming, boating and recreation once the work is complete. Thanks for your support while we carry out this important pest fish control programme.

Building strong local connections and supporting community preparedness was the focus of the Rodney Community Emergency Readiness event, which brought together more than 50 community leaders and Community Emergency Hub reps from across Rodney.
The day was all about making connections, sharing ideas and learning from one another, with highlights being building relationships and recognising that we're all in this together when it comes to supporting our communities. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the event such a success.
