What’s the chance of a catastrophic engine failure? On the *balance* of probabilities, it’s pretty high. The EA113 TFSI motors are getting on a bit and balance shaft seizure is becoming more and more common. The problem is, the balance shafts are driven by the same chain as your oil pump so a snapped chain due to a seized shaft assembly means no oil pressure and a scrap engine.

With a significantly larger MAF housing, careful attention needs to be paid to the scaling of the air flow meter in order to ensure precise fuelling and load measurement at all times.

Unfortunately a slightly restrictive exhaust and intake setup meant we couldn’t push this as hard as we’d like, but the customer will return once these restrictions have been sorted and we can lean on it a little more.
