That’s a wrap on New Zealand Certified Builders Association conference 2026! Last week, the Released team was on the floor, and honestly? Our absolute favourite part was the people.

From catching up with our epic existing clients to meeting new faces, we loved the atmosphere. There’s nothing better than a room full of Kiwi builders stepping off the tools to focus on running a better business.

It was also a bloody good opportunity to talk shop with our software partners Buildxact , Builda Price and HazardCo Health & Safety . Seeing what’s coming down the line over the next 12 months has us seriously excited. 🚀

When you pair world-class trade software with a dedicated Released support team to actually run it for you? That’s how you scale your business and get back to the weekend BBQ.

Stoked for what the next year has in store for NZ builders.

You’ve spent years building a reputation for doing a top job. You don’t cut corners on site, and you never leave a mess behind.

But out in the marketplace, customers judge your business before you ever pick up a tool. If a high-value client has to wait two weeks for a quote, receives an invoice with spelling mistakes, or has to chase you three times just to lock in a start date, that reputation takes a hit.

Messy admin tells the client you're disorganised, even if you’re the best builder or sparky in the region. It makes it harder to charge premium rates, and it stops those high-end word-of-mouth referrals in their tracks.

That’s where we step in. We make sure your on-paper presence looks just as sharp as your finished product on site. Our local, NZ-based team handles your client communication with absolute professionalism: sending polished quotes on time, keeping your invoicing tight, and answering enquiries instantly.

With Released on side, your business looks elite from first contact to final sign-off.

It’s easy to talk about supporting local when you’re buying a flat white, but what about when it comes to the backbone of your business? A global call center or an overseas virtual assistant might save you a dollar, but something valuable often gets lost in translation.

We believe in a Kiwi business supporting Kiwi businesses to build a stronger local economy.

We aren't a massive, faceless global agency. We are a dedicated team based right here in New Zealand. When you invest in us, that money stays right here with local families, local suppliers, and the very communities where your team is out drilling, building, and plumbing every single day.

More importantly, it means your local clients get to talk to real locals when they call your business. No language barriers, no disconnected scripts, and no dropped balls due to misunderstandings or a lack of local knowledge. Just good old-fashioned Kiwi service that reflects the hard work and reputation you’ve spent years building on the ground.

When we back each other, everyone wins. Let's keep the grunt work local, keep the standards high, and build businesses that make our communities thrive.

In the NZ trades, speed beats perfection almost every single time. Here is the brutal reality of how modern customers choose who to hire:

➡️ The fastest reply usually wins: Most customers don't wait around. They'll message three different builders or sparkies, and the first one who answers professionally is the one who gets the foot in the door.

➡️ Delays create doubt: If you take days to reply to a simple enquiry, the client assumes you’ll be just as slow when it comes to showing up on-site or finishing the job.

➡️ Even a simple nod matters: You don't need to have a full quote ready in ten minutes. Even a quick, professional acknowledgement letting them know you’ve received their message and are looking into it keeps them from jumping to the next guy on Google.

But let’s be real. When you're up to your eyeballs in a switchboard or pouring concrete, you can't exactly sit there refreshing your inbox.

That’s where having the right back-end support changes the game. When you partner with Released, you don’t have to play phone tag while you're on the tools. Our local, NZ-based admin team monitors your emails and web enquiries in real-time. We send instant, professional acknowledgements, vet the clients, and book them in, making your business look lightning-fast and ultra-professional while you focus on the actual work.

For some people, the move from filing cabinets full of paperwork to digital record keeping made life much neater and easier. For others, the mess simply moved form the physical realm to the digital one.

If you're in the latter camp, try our simple three-folder system to take back some control. In your shared drive, use three high-level folders:

1) Finance
2) Client Files
3) Operations.

Documents can then be sorted into other folders within these groups. The broad categorisation by purpose makes it easier to find what you're looking for.

Virtual assistants work faster and more efficiently in a more organised system! Our team can help you to create a digital storage solution that works for your business.

"Ah, it’s just a hundred bucks, I’ll let it slide."

We’ve all said it. But swallowing the cost of small extras, unforeseen materials, and overtime hours adds up faster than you think. Over the course of a year, that 'minor' scope creep could literally buy you a new trade van or fund your next family holiday down south.

Our pricing expert and experienced quantity surveyor, Hannah, says it’s time to stop the ostrich act. Ignorance is only bliss until the bills roll in! If you choose to let a cost slide for a client, that’s your call—but make sure you write it down. Keep careful track of every dollar spent outside the budget so you can make informed decisions about future quoting, and know exactly when it’s time to pass charges on.

Want to plug the leaks in your cash flow? We’ve broken down exactly how to spot and stop scope creep in our latest blog. Check the comments for the link.

Carrying the mental load of a business on your own is exhausting. From troubleshooting software to making sure everyone gets paid accurately every week, it's all on your plate.

If you hire a solo freelancer, you’re limited to what that one person knows. If they get stuck, you’re both stuck.
But when you partner with us, things work differently. When one of our clients faces a weird bottleneck, the whole team gets to work. 💪

You aren't just getting a single pair of hands; you’re getting a group chat full of local NZ trade admin specialists. If your dedicated admin manager hits a snag, they don't leave you hanging. They turn around and bounce it off the team. Between us, we’ve seen, solved, and sorted almost every back-office headache a Kiwi trade business can face.

You get the collective brainpower, systems knowledge, and problem-solving grit of an entire corporate operations team, for the price of a single assistant.

You’re in business for yourself, but you don't have to run it by yourself.

Ever quote a job, smash it out of the park, and then completely forget to follow up?

You're not the only one, and it doesn't make you a terrible business owner. You’re just busy. But leaving customers hanging means you're leaving money on the table for the company down the road.

Winning repeat work doesn’t require a 12-step corporate strategy. It just takes a simple daily habit:

➡️ Lock in a system: Stop trying to remember everything in your head while you’re driving between jobs. Use a daily follow-up list.
➡️ Set it and forget it: Put reminders in your phone the second a job wraps up, or better yet, assign the follow-up task to someone else.
➡️ Consistency builds trust: A quick "Just checking in on how that hot water cylinder is running" makes you look like the most professional operator in town.

Small habit. Massive difference to your bottom line.

If your evenings are already swallowed up by invoicing and you don't have time to text old clients, you don't need to hire a full-time office manager. You just need a hand.

Our team act as your local, NZ-based admin team. We chase the quotes, follow up with the clients, and keep your pipeline full while you're out on the tools (or out on the boat).

After nearly five years of the pink and purple dots buzzing around town, the "Released Beast" was well and truly due for an upgrade.

When it came to the redesign and installation, we knew we needed a master of the craft. Enter Jimmy and the team at Adhere Graphics

We handed over a brief that was a bit 'weird and wonderful'—full of bright colours and bold ideas—and they absolutely nailed it.

It’s a massive shift from our old look, but it hits the mark perfectly for where we’re at now. Seeing the sheer craftsmanship Jimmy put into this rig is a great reminder of why we love what we do—backing local Kiwi experts who are the masters of their trade.

One thing’s for sure: Kellie is going to have to watch her right foot on the accelerator from now on. With a rig this unmissable, there’s no blending into the background!

Looking back at our Pink Ribbon event this time last year, it’s amazing to see how far we’ve come. Our wonderful Lou Theobald is officially on a strong road to recovery, and having her here to share her story yesterday was a moment of real reflection for the whole Released whānau.

Lou was diagnosed back in November 2024. It was a curveball none of us saw coming. But yesterday, Lou said something that stuck with all of us: it was the people in her community that made all the difference.

From her football crew and family to her work whānau here at Released, having a team to lean on meant she didn't have to carry the weight alone. It’s a reminder that whether you’re facing a health journey or just trying to keep a business afloat, you’re never meant to do it all yourself.

A massive shoutout to Sarah and Kath for the incredible mahi in organising this year’s event. You poured your heart into this, and it showed.

We’re so proud of you, Lou. Your resilience is legendary, but we’re just glad we could be part of the "village" walking beside you.

Ladies, please don’t put yourselves at the bottom of the to-do list. Get checked. Do it for your whānau, and do it for yourself.

Every dollar helps fund life-saving research for the women we love. If you can, please chip in here: https://f.mtr.cool/zuwomprelq
