DESSERT late at night… never say never! My nephew just got on the phone to his buddy who has been whitebaiting today on the Manawatu - only a few km’s from Foxton. I’m blown away by the “local food stories” right here - and I havent had a chance to yet stop in at RJ’s Licorice!! These fritters were a quick cheeky taste w lemon + freshly ground pepper before heading off to bed.

I’ve bought some organic flour from the FLOUR MILL in FOXTON. Super interesting mill inside and out and I couldn’t help but notice some local Foxton Fizz - move over Coca - is this the new LnP??Also found possibly NZ’s BEST FATTEST asparagus for tonight - nomnomnom

It’s been a few years since a KIWI CHEF had their hands on this! So very proud of Emily who was a gracious winner and spoke superbly - a great ambassador for AUT - Auckland University of Technology, NZChefs Association, NZ Young Chefs Club and Aotearoa!

I found my HAPPY PLACE …. Sydney Fish Market! Just so so good, I wish we had something (at this level) like this back home in Auckland - interestingly I’m told 70% of the fresh fish is all from NZ!! Amazing selection I could honestly die and go to Seafood Heaven … a must experience if you are visiting Sydney

It was GREAT to see recently graduated AUT chef and NZ Young Chefs Club member - Emily Morgan competing for her second time in the Nestle Golden Chef Hat competition today in Sydney. It’s the 60th year this prestigious Young Chefs competition has been held!! There was a very high standard across all the 12 competitors and the dishes looked pretty amazing - I wish I could have tasted them all, and tough nervous work watching from the sideline! Results will be announced tomorrow evening.
