Mangere Development is enabling thousands of new homes, including a mix of social housing and market sales, and bringing new infrastructure to our community.

The project is being run by Kāinga Ora - Homes and Communities, we’re leading the largest urban regeneration programme in New Zealand’s history. We use our country’s precious land well, deliver quality homes quickly and build communities with a sense of belonging. Community guidelines:

Bringing Local Stories to Life Through Public Art | Mangere Development 28/07/2026

Six Vector boxes across Aorere and Te Ararata have been transformed into colourful artworks celebrating local stories, culture, and community pride. Created with mana whenua, local schools, community groups, and artist Elisabeth Kumaran, the project helps bring a sense of identity and belonging to these neighbourhoods.

What’s the most important feature of a home for you? 🏠

Our new homes in Mangere East will be a mix of sizes, layouts and styles - designed to be warm, dry, and affordable to live in. We’ll have places for sale and a range of new Kāinga Ora social homes to suit growing and larger whānau, including four- and five-bedroom options.

What was your favourite part of 275 Day?

Ours was chatting with hundreds of people about our upcoming work in Mangere East… but, also, how good was the kai?! 😋

More than 130 people helped us out by completing a quick survey about our mahi. That’s the most responses we’ve ever had at a single event!

Sharing what matters to you is a big help for us as we continue planning new infrastructure and homes for our community. Massive thanks to everyone who gave their time and stopped by for a kōrero!

Our friends at ME Family Services have been out door knocking across Mangere East, connecting kanohi‑ki‑te‑kanohi and sharing what’s coming up.

So far, we’ve spoken with nearly 60 households, and heard thoughtful questions about our development plans, infrastructure works, and what support is available for buying a home in
Mangere Development.
