Under Code 212 of the Customs Tariff Act, you can import personal effects up to the value of $2000 per consignee (Air freight & Sea freight).

However, this does not apply to commercial items, and also excludes the importation of liquor and to***co.

If the value of the goods is above $FJD $2000 duty is collected on the excess amount. The value for duty component is made up of cost, insurance & freight (CIF) and this is the value on which the customs duty is charged.

Looking to import a second-hand vehicle?

Used vehicles or reconditioned vehicles will require an import licence prior to the vehicles being loaded/shipped to Fiji and will only be issued if the vehicle is 5 years from the year of manufacture and Euro 4 compliant for Hybrid vehicles. Diesel and petrol vehicles are only required to be Euro 4 compliant.

It is also important to remember that certain vehicles like High Bin Dumper Trucks with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) exceeding 20 tonnes and vehicles that have been declared as written off from the country of exportation are prohibited.

You also cannot import left-hand driven vehicles, unless prior approval is sought from the Land Transport Authority of Fiji.

For clarifications on registration requirements, contact the Land Transport Authority of Fiji before importing vehicles.

All brand new motor vehicles imported into Fiji must also be EURO 4 compliant.
