Sunday kind of blue.

Copper Canopy commission for Bronwyn.

This one really comes alive when light hits the leaves and casts beautiful shadows. Bronwyn saw an experimental copper piece I made and wanted something similar for her space.

Birds, the mystical sky dwellers have always been symbols of angels and messengers and sometimes both for me. Coming to me in nature and in dreams.

I chose black as one of the few colours for my Flora mobiles as it speaks to me of a bird wings and in my own place and time specifically the pine Magpies of my youth, sky swooping Kererū (Angels of my valley), sea storm screeching Gulls that haunt the West Coast beaches, the quiet shadow of Ruru against the sky and my own garden black bird, who’s cheeky confidence grows daily, both annoying and entertaining me.

I make these as an ode to those special creatures, each wing of these mobiles a bird, part of the murmuration, moving in a ripple of connected movement flying overhead.

This mobile is for sale, DM to purchase.

Fun times at glazing some experiments with various natural glazes. It was more stressful than I thought glazing bone dry clay! Can’t wait to see what these glazes do, as they go up in flames tonight.

Moss 2.

Another piece created in the hanging of moss, rimu and stalactites. A piece that echos the process of its creation; a peaceful, meditative, quiet movement.

Making these mobiles for me is a way to slow my mind in the act of finding balance and creation and I love that watching them move quietly overhead gives me that same feeling of calm.

Aluminium approx 37x37cm
DM me if you would like this hanging in your space.

Flora in Blue.

I feel in love with the colour blue when wandering the streets of Oaxaca, seeing a building painted vivid blue that happened to match the top and skirt I was wearing at the time. A girlfriend took my photo against the wall an there I was surrounded in this Klein blue!
But perhaps the blue I most love is that with a hint of purple, a colour that seems to vibrate and change as light moves across its surface and upon reflection I realise my garden is slowing filling with these shades of blue too and I couldn’t be happier.

This piece is made from aluminium and hand painted.
Approx 40x46cm
DM to purchase.

So happy, melting flowers and fingerprints 🔥

Thank you for your knowledge, I don’t think I’m doing it correctly but it seems to be working!
