Welcome to our physio team Emily!

Emily graduated from The University of Otago with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy and is excited to be back home in Alexandra after spending time working in rural Australia in private practice where she gained broad experience managing a diverse and high-volume caseload.

She has a strong interest in sports injury management and rehabilitation, with experience working alongside a range of sporting teams and athletes. Her sporting involvement has included working with Tennis Australia at the Gallipoli Youth Cup Australian National High School Championships in 2024 and 2025. She is also the physiotherapist for the Matakanui Men’s Rugby Football Club.

Emily is committed to ongoing professional development and has completed additional training in dry needling, clinical reformer Pilates, headache and jaw conditions, shoulder rehabilitation, and musculoskeletal care.

Outside of physiotherapy, Emily enjoys strength training, running, reading, and spending time with family and friends

📌📌Adult ADHD Service📌📌

Did you know that adult patients no longer require a psychiatrist endorsement to start medical treatment for ADHD?

HealthCentral now offers an Adult ADHD Service and has a GP available to assess, diagnose and prescribe ADHD medication for adults 18 years and older.

Introducing - Dr Thomas van der Velde!

Dr Thomas joins us from the Netherlands and will be employed at HealthCentral until mid October. He did his medical training at the University hospital in Groningen and has worked in Emergency and Geriatric care as well as General Practice.

Dr Thomas loves travelling and in his spare time likes to be active including running/hiking and cycling.

He will be working 4 days each week and has appointments available from tomorrow. Please call reception on 440 0295 if you would like to book an appointment with him.

Please note that our Urgent Care Centre is open from 8am to 6pm every day except Christmas Day. From the 24th December 2025 to 4th January 2026 all services will be delivered from Level 1 (upstairs). You are welcome to use the staircase or the lift.

📌 Children aged 13 and under are FREE
