It’s been a pleasure working with Emergency Management Southland to bring as much generation support and electrical services to the Southland Rural Community as we could. Thanks to Clyde Hiab Services for the after hours crane and transport assistance moving generators South. We were glad to see the cow sheds turning and fresh water flowing, but most importantly the sigh of relief from the farmers. Stay safe, warm and away from any overhead lines that are still on the ground.
To the network crews carrying out repairs in marginal conditions, your commitment and dedication is recognised highly amongst members of the general public 💪🏻⚡️
We continue to support farmers with generation and look forward to completing our growing list of Terra Cat generator installs in the near future.
Kudos to the PowerNet crews!
The number of homes without power continues to reduce thanks to some outstanding mahi from PowerNet and a range of contractors.
Cold and snowy weather is adding to the challenges today and we appreciate your commitment to restoring our essential services.
As of 12pm today, approximately 4,800 customers in Southland and 1,889 customers in Otago remain without power.
We continue to urge people without power who need support to reach out to our welfare team on 0800 890 127 between the hours of 9am-4.30pm or email [email protected].

We know some people left their houses in a hurry last week after the storm hit. Your power was probably off and checking that appliances weren’t still switched on was the last thing on your mind.
If you are still staying elsewhere, please pop home (if you can) and ensure you turn off all electrical appliances from the wall.
This includes cooking appliances, lights and sensitive appliances such as TVs and computers.
Power will be restored without notice, and we want to ensure people’s homes and properties are safe when it is.

If your power has been restored and it doesn’t seem quite right, there could be further problems.
Low voltage issues
If your lights are dim or flickering or appliances aren’t getting enough power to run correctly, this can be dangerous. You need to:
• switch off your main switch
• phone our call centre on 0800 808 587 (be aware there will be delays due to the high volume of calls)
Partial power
Customers who have three phase power may find power is on in parts of their property but not in others. This can indicate an issue with one of the phases.
For the quickest solution, we suggest phoning an electrician who can determine if the problem is within your property.
Remember: Although power is being restored, there may still be further outages after it comes back on. Further faults might arise and sometimes power will have to be turned off for repairs to be made.
Making time to run the team through our generator deployed methodology. Continuous improvement for our teams safety and your project delivery.
