Mid-August 2023, right in the heart of monsoon season, we were trekking through the beautiful trails of Mardi Himal in Nepal — and honestly, the rain made everything more magical.

The paths were wet and muddy, our boots sinking softly into the earth, releasing that deep forest smell that only comes during rainy season. Clouds floated slowly through the hills, sometimes hiding the mountains, sometimes opening just enough to show the dramatic green ridges ahead. Every turn of the trail felt alive — bright wildflowers blooming along the route, fresh waterfalls pouring down from the hillsides, and the jungle glowing in a thousand shades of green.

It wasn’t the easiest walk. The trail was slippery, clothes stayed damp, and we had to move carefully. And yes… leeches (juka) were part of the adventure too, so anyone trekking this season should definitely be prepared. But despite that, the journey felt peaceful, calm, and deeply refreshing. The soft rain, the misty forests, the quiet mountain atmosphere — it was the kind of trek that slows you down and lets you truly feel nature.
