The 73rd edition of Everest Day, or Sagarmatha Day, is being celebrated today across Nepal and around the world, with various programmes related to mountain tourism, environmental conservation, and safe mountain climbing.
The day is celebrated every year on 29th May for the successful climbing of Mount Everest for the first time in 1953 by Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary.
