Introducing Res Himalaya

A biannual journal from the Center for Geostrategic Affairs at IIDS examining the political, economic, social, and strategic questions shaping Nepal and its wider neighborhood. Res Himalaya sits between academic research and public affairs, making space for ideas that deserve more room, context, and reflection.

For our inaugural issue, we’re inviting researchers, practitioners, policymakers, journalists, and independent writers to contribute.

Have an argument worth making, a question worth exploring, or a story that reveals something larger about Nepal and the region? We want to hear from you.

Submissions are now open.

IIDS is pleased to announce a new partnership with The Great Nepali Diaspora (TGND) through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding.

At the heart of this partnership is a shared goal: to bring Nepal and Nepali communities around the world closer together. By connecting IIDS’ research and policy work with TGND’s global network, we hope to create more opportunities to share knowledge, experiences, and ideas.

Together, we aim to:

✔️ Advance research and understanding of the Nepali diaspora
✔️ Encourage the exchange of knowledge and expertise between Nepal and diaspora professionals
✔️ Collaborate on research, policy dialogue, publications, and events
✔️ Strengthen connections with Nepali communities around the world

Through this partnership, IIDS and TGND look forward to building stronger networks, supporting meaningful collaboration, and creating new ways for the Nepali diaspora to connect with and contribute to Nepal.
