Today we hung up a new tapestry here at Kongen called «Unda Marina» (Wave of the Sea). The work is by textile artist Ellen Lenvik, who has created a number of large tapestries for both ships as well as for other types of public spaces.

BTS: Inspecting spaces, exploring details, and experiencing how every corner of the ship is used by guests and crew. It’s all about seeing design in action, learning from the journey, and bringing those insights back.

Beyond architecture & design, our study trip was about the team. Sharing experiences, celebrating achievements, and learning together makes us a strong team!

Inspiration II: Looking down isn’t about lowering your gaze, but noticing the details beneath our feet. We took note to textures, patterns, and perspectives to ground our creativity in future designing!

Inspiration is everywhere... sometimes all it takes is a reminder to look up! From bold forms to subtle details, each stop on our study trip sparked ideas we’ll carry into our future projects.

40 Years of Design, Innovation & Collaboration:

This year we celebrate YSA turning 4️⃣0️⃣! To mark the milestone, our team went on a study trip filled with learning, inspiration, and reflection through the Mediterranean. Over the next weeks, we’ll share some of our highlights and insights from this journey. 

'Of course we are co-ordinated!' Anna and Martin in the office today. Meanwhille we had a major fiber crash and none of our digital systems worked! But still, great minds think (and/or dress) alike…

Livorno is the capital of the province of Livorno in Tuscany, Italy. The city has approx. 170,000 inhabitants. Livorno's port facing the Ligurian Sea is the third largest on the west coast of Italy.
We docked here early today. There is a lot of activity at the port, it is a port for a large area, but it is clear that Livorno is much smaller than the ports and cities we have visited previously.

Ocean Viking is also in the port today. It is one of the NGO ships that saves lives in the Mediterranean Sea! 🙏

There were excursions today to. Some of us went to Florence, others to Pisa, some went on an expedition to Cinque Terra and those of us who stayed behind explored the city. We also got a glimpse of Carrera!

Rome is the capital of the Republic of Italy and also the seat of the Holy See and the Order of Malta, both of which are considered sovereign. In ancient times, Rome was the capital of the Roman Empire, the largest and most powerful state of its time.

The Tiber River flows through the city, and the city was originally located on a hill along this river, but has grown and spread outward. Rome is not a coastal city, but lies slightly inland from the Mediterranean. In ancient times, Rome was the seat of the Roman Kingdom, the Roman Republic and the Roman Empire, which had a decisive influence on European culture.
Rome has 2,746,164 inhabitants (2023), while the metropolitan area has 4,214,971 inhabitants (2023).
Rome is the administrative, cultural and religious center of Italy. The city encloses Vatican City, which is ruled by the Pope and is the spiritual and administrative center of the Roman Catholic Church.
