Iconic Houses
20th century architect's houses and modern house museums form a unique category of sites open to the public. We have lots of potential together.
Iconic Houses is the international network of over 200 architecturally significant houses and artists' homes and studios from the 20th century that are open to the public as house museums. Whereas the buildings are located all around the world the professional issues that concern running the sites are more or less the same. Research initiatives and co-operation with universities and expert teams,

Casa Vasto
Mesura transformed a 540 m² former factory into a home and art gallery for Vasto. The flat is a generous, diaphanous open space with windows on three sides, interrupted only by two rows of steel columns. Vasto supports cross-disciplinary artists and designers, challenging conventions, embracing material experimentation, and expanding the boundaries of art, design, and craft.

Casa Corbero
Casa Corberó, the home and studio of Catalan sculptor Xavier Corberó is a remarkable architectural creation. Corberó began the project in 1968 and spent nearly fifty years expanding it into a complex that reflects his artistic vision.
This poetic, labyrinthine structure features repetitive concrete arches, scale manipulations, and geometric voids, blurring the boundaries between residential space, monumental sculpture, and landscape design. 🕋👁️

Casa Moratiel
Casa Moratiel is a key example of post-war modern architecture in Catalonia, demonstrating how buildings can evolve over time. Designed as a summer residence, it combines rational construction, spatial clarity, and a strong connection to the landscape.
Incorporating key principles of the Modern Movement, the residence uses an intelligent layout of private courtyards and functional zoning to masterfully optimize natural light and cross-ventilation. ☀️

Casa Navàs
Casa Navàs is a complete expression of Catalan Modernisme and a forerunner of 20th-century architecture.
Designed by Lluís Domènech i Montaner and built between 1901 and 1908, Casa Navàs stands as a masterclass in Modernista Gesamtkunstwerk (total work of art). It is one of the very few Art Nouveau buildings in Europe to survive with its original interior program completely intact—including custom furniture, ceramics, and exquisite stained glass. 💎✨

Fundació Mies van der Rohe
The German Pavilion, designed for the 1929 Barcelona International Exposition, is a landmark of modern architecture. It exemplifies minimalism through open plans, luxurious materials, and a seamless indoor–outdoor spatial experience. Although demolished in 1930, the pavilion was faithfully reconstructed in 1986 on its original site. It is now a key reference for modern architectural theory and spatial experimentation.

Cases Barates del Bon Pastor
The cases barates (‘cheap houses’) of Bon Pastor originally consisted of 781 small single-family homes to house around 3,000 people from working-class families. 32 houses of the original settlement have been preserved for heritage purposes. One of these preserved blocks has been converted into a museum space by the Barcelona History Museum, showing life in the old neighbourhood.
Preserving this heritage is key to understanding the social evolution of the city through its built environment. 🏘️👥

Casa Vicens
Casa Vicens, Gaudí’s first major work, marks the emergence of his distinctive architectural language, in which nature, craftsmanship, and structural innovation are seamlessly intertwined. Opened as a house museum in 2017 following a meticulous restoration, it offers valuable insight into Gaudí’s early vision. In 2005, it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List as part of the ‘Works of Antoni Gaudí’.
A manifesto of pure creativity that continues to inspire. 🎨🧱
