RE-worlding: Imagining Regenerative Futures Together 🌍

We’re excited to present our ongoing Re-worlding Sessions, an international collaboration with our partners to rethink how we interact with the world.

Together, we are exploring regenerative solutions and co-creating visions for a future that nurtures both humans and the more-than-human. 🌱✨ Across three design sessions, our partners and participants explore what it takes to reimagine systems and design meaningful change.

Stay tuned as we introduce each session, highlight our amazing partners, and dive deeper into the methodologies and takeaways driving this transformative project.

The theme for is . At DIG, we believe & drive innovation & better outcomes, such as increased product accessibility for women to advance financial & disability inclusion & bridging the gender gap in tech through redesigned upskilling programmes.

We're proud to highlight some of the work we've done for others — from transformative approaches to inclusive solutions — ultimately empowering women to break down barriers that hinder their progress.

💸 Demand-side research on migrant remittances for the : We researched migrant remittance senders & receivers in Singapore, Bangladesh, Senegal, & the UAE using a human-centred approach. We partnered with service providers to enhance their services & prototype ideal customer journeys. We also developed a Human-Centred Design toolkit & provided training for remittance service providers & the UNCDF team.

💻 Work in Progress! alliance (WiP!) programme in collaboration with .io, & : We used participatory research to enable women in Nigeria & Uganda to reflect on tech learning & working barriers. Daily challenges were shared via WhatsApp and Slack, helping participants learn & share recommendations. Insights gathered informed Tunga's redesign of coding courses for girls & women in Nigeria & Uganda.

📲 Facilitation of Design thinking clinics for grantees of the  Innovation Fund, specifically startups working on innovative mobile tech solutions: In the first DT clinic, we emphasised inclusivity by looking at rural areas, gender, & people with low digital literacy. In the second clinic, we focused on designing with & for people with disabilities, discussing lessons learned & challenges faced by startups.

🌱 Women leading change—Capacity-building of in-country association leaders in Burkina Faso: We conducted a co-creation workshop with in-country leaders to design a tool for women in agriculture to access information on land, financing, & training. With support from the Ministry of Agriculture, , & GIZ GmbH, we delivered a tailor-made toolkit to facilitate this access.

🌟 Last week, we hosted a dynamic workshop as part of the , focusing on design thinking in the Water, Agrofood, and Renewable Energy sectors! 💡 Participants immersed themselves in design thinking principles and activities, gaining valuable insights and tools for their work. 👏 Yeppers left with a newfound understanding of design thinking's potential impact. 🌍 Excited to see their innovative solutions!

We are very proud to take you on an inspirational walk throughout the 2023
with our former colleague Zeynep! She recently hosted a series of workshops during DDW, presenting her tool, Intercommunal Collaborations. A critical tool facilitating reflection on Eurocentric values and assumptions that dominate the international development sector. Asking "What if multiple world views co-exist?" and challenges the user to redefine development and work
from different value systems.

The starting point of the project is the international development sector; however, Eurocentric values and assumptions are in every aspect of our modern-day lives.Using the online platform, participants exercise working from different value systems and world views. Seeking the pluriverse, participants imagine their own alternatives and practice how to create a world where many value systems can co-exist.

The graduation project of our colleague Mila was part of the e-magazine of the 4TU Design
United Expo https://www.4tu.nl/du/projects/werkkaart/
Mila designed Werkkaart, a tool guiding newcomers towards work. Werkkaart problematises bureaucracy and power imbalances between Dutch municipality officers and newcomers. It broaches the sensitive issue of informal labour for migrants, aiming to bridge gaps and promote symmetrical dialogues in an often complex context.

Hugo did for the Embassy of Water together with de Schone Maas Waterketen in 2019.
The project relied on source makes this independency visible. The sticker keeps on working on its own. In the Embassy of Water, there was a lot of attention to …. water.Not only as a tangible substance but also as a living power with its own voice and qualities that change by movement. Remarkably, there are many curious policymakers and officials present that are genuinely looking for new solutions.
Speculative but therefore no less tangible: What if bathing suits are a visual indicator of the pollution they come in contact with? With a strong series of photos, it is all about who is in the bathing suit
and what we expose these to.
