Join our Language Café Picknick tonight at Wilhelminapark. We start at 19h00 so we can chat a bit before watching some incredible cosmic events together (if we can see it from the park).

There will be flags for the usual languages :)

Please bring some drinks, picknickfood (no bbq!) and a blanket to sit on

Cancel your plans for August 12, because the Netherlands is about to witness the biggest sky-gazing day of the century. In just 24 hours, four incredible cosmic events will unfold right above us. The spectacle starts before sunrise when you can look east to spot a rare parade of six planets, with Mars and Saturn shining brightly. Then comes the main event at 8:11 PM, as the biggest solar eclipse of the century peaks over the country, with the moon blocking 88 percent of the sun. The magic continues after dark with the peak of the Perseid meteor shower. Thanks to completely dark skies with zero moonlight, spots like the Veluwe or Wadden Islands will offer views of up to 100 shooting stars an hour, while the glowing Milky Way stretches across the horizon. A planet parade, a solar eclipse, a meteor storm, and our galaxy will all be visible in one single day, so share this video with your friends to make sure no one misses out on this once-in-a-lifetime event. #netherlands #holland #dutch #amsterdam #europe #rotterdam
