Floris Kaayk is nominated for a DIRECTORSNL Awards by the Dutch Directors Guild (DDG) in the catagory Digital Storytelling for THE MODULAR BODY. Fellow nominees are Eefje Blankevoort Els van Driel, and van Huystee. Congrats! This monday the 13th of March the prizes will be handed out in Boom Chicago ---- fingers crossed!

The Modular Body - The FWA The Modular Body is an online science fiction story about the creation of OSCAR, a living organism built from human cells.

After carefull consideration we have chosen our favorite three fanpieces: The Terminator Oscar, The Fishy Oscar and V.i.c.t.t.o.r. We have decided that the winner is..........Fishy Oscar by Piko Popo! The team appreciated the detailed reimagening of the possibilities of the modular body: one for water. A design that shows how the future of nature and technology still is open for many new scenario's. Piko has worked in interesting details how modern day technologies could merge with acquatic life forms.
A design that offers new questions about artificial life that we should be asking ourselves right now. Congrats Piko! We will send you a 3D printed version of Oscar's skeleton.

2. And a discussion of what Oscar means to be immortal by primary schools De Bloemhof en Obs De Globe in Rotterdam "If we could replace every part of our body, we would become immortal. Then our limbs and organs would be a kind of software. Our brain is the only ‘part’ that can’t be replaced without turning into another person. Therefore our brains are the only real hardware in our bodies."
