For this site-specific adaptation, Tingyi Jiang moves beyond the stage and into the spaces surrounding Garage Rotterdam. Guided by the artistโ€™s performative speech, the audience is invited to walk along as the performance shifts between the white cube, the rooftop, and the street.

About the performance โ†“
Make It Fit โ€“ A Life Script is a multidisciplinary performance exploring how language shapes authority, identity, and social norms. Moving between singing, conversation, and staged speech, the work examines the internalised script of โ€œmaking it fit.โ€ By reconfiguring these forms within both museal and public space, this adaptation reveals their control mechanisms while allowing space for deviation, vulnerability, and chance. The performance unfolds as an evolving live script between theatre, exhibition, and everyday life.

To proceed, please follow the instructions carefully.

Instructions are everywhere. From fitness routines and makeup tutorials to algorithms, official procedures, and implicit codes of conduct, they shape how we move through everyday life. At first glance, they appear as neutral tools โ€” simply as ways to get things done. They help us operate a device, follow a workout, or complete a form correctly. At the same time, instructions translate complex realities into manageable steps, defining what counts as logical, desirable, or successful. As such, they encode cultural norms, institutional priorities, and power dynamics.

๐—›๐—ผ๐˜„ ๐—ง๐—ผ: ๐—Ÿ๐—ถ๐˜ƒ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—ง๐—ต๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ด๐—ต ๐—œ๐—ป๐˜€๐˜๐—ฟ๐˜‚๐—ฐ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป๐˜€ approaches instructions both as a method and as a subject of critical inquiry. Through performative strategies, illustrations, and video installations, the artists examine how instructions shape behaviour, identities, and perception. They dissect manuals, rewrite tutorials, and develop new instructions that โ€” echoing the spirit of Fluxus โ€” range from poetic to absurd.

What happens when an instruction is decontextualised, parodied, or deliberately distorted? The artists in this exhibition render visible the assumptions embedded in these systems, shifting instructions from fixed directives into sites of negotiation.

Sandor Dayala is a multidisciplinary artist from The Hague whoโ€™s doing it all, from releasing music thatโ€™s making waves in the charts to years of experience behind the decks. He is also one of the founders of PLAZA, a label focused on releasing local experimental music.

He has performed at renowned festivals like Dekmantel and Lowlands, while also frequently playing sets at Garage Noord and Laak. Internationally, he has played at venues like Lost London and various spots in Paris, marking his presence in the electronic music scene.

With a beautifully diverse sound, every set is unique, yet always rooted in one core emotion: love. This is also the foundation of LOVE, his new club concept focused on creating mellow, warm, and intimate energy on the dancefloor.

Friday the 27th it is time for our annual Art Rotterdam afterparty ๐Ÿชฉโ›“๏ธ

Our curator Yannik Gรผldner brought together three prolific DJโ€™s to celebrate Rotterdamโ€™s biggest art event with us

๐‘ป๐’๐’“๐’–๐’”
Torus is the alias of multidisciplinary artist Joeri Woudstra. In club contexts, Torus pushes dance music to its limits. While his recorded output often leans toward melancholic and ambient textures, his DJ sets take a maximalist, high-impact approach, deconstructing familiar scenes and reassembling them into new social and emotional spaces. Technical precision and careful control provide a framework for intuitive, deeply personal explorations of sound.

๐‘ฐ๐’๐’Œ๐’†๐’
Inken creates hybrid currents of fractured sound through mashups and live sample-improvisation. Playing with fragility and unpredictability, she stretches the edges of a dj format through jittering stream-like sample soup, reassembling disassociative fragments into grounding form. Inken is an artist based in Berlin.

We open our doors at 20:00, and will go on until 01:00. Entrance is free. See you tomorrow ๐Ÿค

In her work, Natalia reimagines the fairy tale as a moral landscape, a space where myth becomes a mirror for truth. Her story tells of a mountain that swallows the owner of a gold mine, a figure whose greed poisons both the earth and its people. Within this allegory, the artist examines the anatomy of fear: how it seeps into human behaviour, how violence becomes ordinary when left unchecked.
Like all fables, Nataliaโ€™s tale carries its quiet warning. It is a reflection on power, responsibility, and the fragile balance between progress and destruction. As the saying goes, โ€œA fairy tale is a lie, thereโ€™s a hint in it, a lesson for good fellows.โ€
Through the language of story, Natalia invites us to look beyond, to see in the mountainโ€™s hunger not punishment, but the earthโ€™s own act of sovereignty.

Curator Yannik Guldner asked the participating artists of his exhibition The Ground Is Shifting to reflect on instability, change, and the end(s) of the world.
