Making inequalities visible and addressing them starts with collecting high-quality equality data. On 30 September and 1 October, EGLSF General Secretary, Javier Pellรณn, participated in the High-level Roundtable on Equality Data in Brussels, organised with support from the Irish Presidency.
The event brought together civil society, policymakers, equality bodies, researchers, and EU institutions to discuss how improved equality data can reveal discrimination, understand peopleโs lived experiences, and translate equality commitments into practical action.
For LGBTIQ+ communities, reliable and inclusive data is crucial. It ensures that inequalities are recognised, understood, and addressed.
We were glad to bring the perspectives of inclusive sports and LGBTIQ+ communities to this significant discussion. ๐ณ๏ธโ๐๐ช๐บ

The European Gay & Le***an Sport Federation Board came together in Torremolinos, Spain for our latest Board meeting, hosted by Diversport ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ Torremolinos ๐ณ๏ธโ๐๐ณ๏ธโโง๏ธ
Over the weekend, we worked through a packed agenda, including updates on EuroGames 2027, 2028 and 2029, preparations for the upcoming AGA in Hamburg, our 2027 planning and budgeting, ongoing projects, and the continued development of EGLSFโs work to combat exclusion and discrimination in sport.
Beyond the Board meeting, we were very happy to join Diversport Torremolinos for their AGA and take part in their sports event organised as part of the European Week of Sport, with a focus on Trans Lives Matter. It was a great opportunity to connect with the local LGBTIQ+ sports community, exchange experiences and, most importantly, share some time together through sport. ๐โโ๏ธ๐ณ๏ธโโง๏ธ
A big thank you to Diversport Torremolinos for welcoming us, hosting our Board meeting and giving us the opportunity to learn more about their work creating safe, inclusive and non-judgmental spaces for LGBTIQ+ people through sport and community activities. ๐

๐ณ๏ธโ๐ Feeling safe can make the difference between taking part in sport and staying away.
In this video, Javier Gil Quintana, professor and researcher at the Universitat de Valรจncia - UV, shares how discovering LGBTIQ+ sports clubs gave him the opportunity to meet people like him and find spaces where he could feel safe and included.
For many LGBTIQ+ people, sport is still not a space where they feel comfortable being themselves. Inclusive clubs and communities can help change that, creating opportunities to connect, participate and belong without fear of judgement or discrimination.
Thatโs why Play in Colour is calling on cities across Europe to support inclusive sporting environments and take a clear stand against conversion practices.

๐ณ๏ธโ๐ Belonging starts with being able to show up as yourself without hiding who you are to fit in.
In this video, Margot Gysbrechts highlights why creating truly inclusive environments for LGBTIQ+ people matters, while drawing attention to the continued impact of conversion practices across Europe.
At the heart of Play in Colour is a simple principle: there is nothing about LGBTIQ+ people that needs to be โfixedโ. Everyone deserves to be respected, supported and valued for who they are.
Thatโs why we are calling on cities across Europe to take a clear public stand against conversion practices.

๐ณ๏ธโ๐ What makes sport stronger? The freedom for everyone to show up as who they are.
In this video, Sarah Townsend shares a simple but powerful message: that freedom matters to all of us.
When sport brings together different identities, experiences and perspectives, it becomes stronger, more creative and more effective. Inclusion isnโt just about welcoming people in; itโs about protecting everyoneโs freedom to be who they are, without pressure to change or suppress their identity.
Thatโs why Play in Colour is calling on cities across Europe to stand with LGBTIQ+ people, champion inclusive sport and take a clear stand against conversion practices.

๐ณ๏ธโ๐ Inclusion can do more than create a sense of belonging. It can change, and even save, lives.
In this video, Gianmarco Forcella from Libera Rugby Club, highlights a reality we cannot ignore: conversion practices still exist across Europe.
He also reminds us of the power of inclusion to help people understand that they deserve to be accepted for who they are.
That is why Play in Colour is calling on mayors and cities across ๐ช๐บ to take a public stand against conversion practices and help build communities where LGBTIQ+ people are protected, respected and included.
And you can help bring the appeal to your city:
