We were part of the Akwa Ibom State delegation to the 2-Day South-South Consultative Meeting on the Review of the National Youth Policy (2019-2023) in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The meeting was facilitated by the Lead Consultant- Dr. Udy Akpan of Youth Alive Foundation Africa.

The Youth Advocacy Cluster applauds Governor Umo Eno-led administration for its commitment to youth empowerment initiatives in the state. This is even more commendable because it is coming at such a time when the living conditions of young persons are scaringly worrisome across the nation due to several un-enabling socioeconomic factors and conditions.

We shall be making a press statement to further suggest to the Akwa Ibom State Government how these initiatives should and can be effectively utilised towards achieving the objectives encapsulated in the Arise Agenda with a keen focus on Aspiration 2 - Rural Development and Youth Empowerment.

As of today, our Youth Development and Implementation Framework Policy Tracker shows that we have effectively achieved 1/4 recommendations on our pathway to building appropriate structures and systems for thriving and sustainable youth development.

Ten years after,

We are still asking for the AKYDF Bill to be established into law.

Now recommitted to the floor of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, we are optimistic that it will be passed and assented to in record time.
