Likosi Market, under Sagamu Local Government in Ogun State, has ushered in a new era of leadership as Chief Olusegun Kehinde, popularly known as “Onile,” was officially installed as the Baba Oloja Ajetunde of Likosi in a colourful and well-attended ceremony today Thursday 30th April, 2026 at Likosi Palace

The event, marked by rich cultural display and community pride, witnessed royal blessings bestowed on the new market leader by representatives of His Royal Majesty, Oba Kazeem Gbadamosi Olaonipekun (Okuselu I), the Ologijo of Ogijo, alongside the Baale of Likosi Land, High Chief Dawodu Thomas Olabode.

In a strong show of solidarity, prominent market leaders including the Iya Oloja General of Remo, Sagamu, and Ogijo threw their full support behind the newly installed Baba Oloja, affirming confidence in his leadership and vision for the market.

During the presentation of the certificate and staff of office to the newly inaugurated Baba Oloja of Likosi Market, the Baale of Likosi delivered a message centered on leadership, responsibility, and unity within the market community.

He advised the new Baba Oloja to lead with integrity, fairness, and humility, emphasizing that the position is not just a title but a call to service. EWU-OLOJA RESIDENTS LAMENT AS FLOOD OVERRUNS COMMUNITY

Residents of Ewu-Oloja, Likosi, Sagamu, in Ogun State are groaning in pain following a heavy rainstorm that wreaked havoc in the historic town.

Several homes and properties were reportedly damaged, while business activities were distrupted and paralysed due to flooding but no live lost.

The destruction prompted the Shepherd-in-Charge of CCC Ibudo Aseyori, Prophet Adewale Obenbe, who was badly affected with the devastating rainstorm which cause significant damage to homes and business, appeal and urge the relevant authorities and well meaning individuals to come to their aids and especially the Ogun State Governor, to ensure the necessary department are active to help save and prevent loss of lives during this raining season

Some residents who were also affected with the heavy downpour, appealed to both the Federal and Benue State Governments, through the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), for immediate intervention.

Mr. Adesanwo, who is one of the landlord called for the urgent intervention for displaced families who ran for their lives, as well as the expansion and rehabilitation of drainage systems within the town to prevent future flooding. He also urged the establishment of a special intervention fund to assist affected traders and homeowners who lost their livelihoods.

In the video, the Shepherd was heard saying in Yoruba Governor Dapo, we voted for you, please have mercy on us, come and rescue us, this is our community, we can't even enter the house, flood has damage everything.

In some residents statement with our news reporter, some said “What we had all welcomed as the first rain of the year—a sign of relief from the intense heat and the beginning of a new planting season—has unfortunately brought unexpected hardship to many households within our community

The video clips from Shepherd Adewale Obenbe he lamented that no one should have to watch their livelihood swept away in a single morning.”

According to one passersby, he advised residents to clear gutters and drainage channels around their homes and business premises to allow for the free flow of water.

While urging residents to avoid taking shelter under weak structures or large trees during storms, speaking further he also instructed the residents to report severe cases of displacement or damage to the Sagamu Local Government Secretariat so that urgent assistance could be properly coordinated.
