MARINE ENGINEER FIX TALK: L**e Oil Analysis Case Study 🧐
The video is the L**e Oil Analysis report from our 4-stroke diesel engine running on high-sulfur fuel. Here’s the situation:
1. The Fresh oil grade has a standard Total Base Number (TBN/BN) of 30.
2. After about 30 days in service, the latest test result shows TBN has dropped to 16.
That’s nearly a 47% depletion in just one month.

During L**e Oil Analysis of a 4 stroke engine using high sulfur fuel, the test result for Total Base Number(TBN) or simply Base Number (BN) showed 16.
This is a grade of oil that has a standard BN number of 30 when fresh but after about 30 days of usage the BN drastically dropped down to 16.
