Have you ever noticed a white or cloudy spot on the front of the eye? 👁️

It could be corneal leukoma—a dense, whitish scar on the cornea that can develop after conditions such as eye injuries, infections, ulcers, or severe inflammation.

And here’s the important part: that white spot isn’t always just a cosmetic issue. Depending on its size and location, a corneal scar can interfere with how light enters the eye and may cause blurred or reduced vision, glare, or visual distortion.

⚠️ Don’t ignore a white spot on your eye.
Not every white-looking area has the same cause, and only a proper eye examination can determine what is happening.

👁️ If you notice a new white/cloudy spot, worsening vision, eye pain, redness, or light sensitivity, get your eyes examined promptly.

Your cornea helps you see clearly. Protect it—and don’t wait until your vision is affected before seeking care.

A patient walked into the clinic complaining of severe eye pain accompanied by a sudden drop in vision.

A detailed eye examination was performed, and the fundus examination revealed the findings shown in the image above.

🔍 What do you think is the diagnosis?

Could these fundus findings explain the patient’s sudden visual change?

👁️ WHAT DOES A TYPICAL MYOPIC FUNDUS LOOK LIKE?

A highly myopic eye can have a very different appearance at the back of the eye. Some of these changes may be visible during a routine dilated fundus examination.

🔎 Common fundus findings in high myopia include:

• Tessellated (tigroid) fundus – thinning of the retinal pigment epithelium and choroid can make the underlying choroidal vessels more visible.

• Tilted optic disc – the optic disc may appear obliquely inserted or oval rather than perfectly round.

• Peripapillary atrophy/crescent – a yellowish-white area may develop around the optic disc.

• Lacquer cracks – yellowish linear breaks in the Bruch's membrane–RPE complex. These can be associated with complications such as choroidal neovascularization.

• Posterior staphyloma – an outpouching of the posterior wall of the elongated myopic eye.

• Myopic macular degeneration – progressive structural changes at the macula can lead to significant visual impairment.

• Fuchs spot – a pigmented macular lesion that may develop following previous myopic choroidal neovascularization.

• Lattice degeneration and retinal breaks – peripheral retinal changes that can increase the risk of retinal tears or retinal detachment.

⚠️ Important: Myopia is not simply about needing glasses. High myopia can be associated with structural changes that may threaten vision.

That is why people with high myopia should have regular comprehensive eye examinations, including appropriate retinal evaluation.

👁️ Your eyes may look fine from the outside while important changes are happening at the back of the eye.

Have you ever had your retina examined after being diagnosed with high myopia?

Have you ever noticed that someone’s eyes look yellow instead of white? 👀💛

That yellowish discoloration is called scleral icterus, and it can be an important sign that something is happening inside the body.

Scleral icterus occurs when bilirubin levels in the blood become elevated, causing the sclera (the white part of the eye) to take on a yellow appearance.

🔎 What can cause it? It may be associated with conditions affecting:

🟡 The liver — such as hepatitis or other liver disorders

🟡 The gallbladder and bile ducts — including obstruction

🟡 The breakdown of red blood cells — such as certain hemolytic conditions

🟡 Other conditions that cause increased bilirubin levels

⚠️ Important: Yellow eyes are not a diagnosis by themselves. The underlying cause needs proper medical evaluation.

So, if you notice new or persistent yellowing of the eyes, don’t simply dismiss it as tiredness or “normal” eye colour.

👁️ Your eyes can sometimes give you clues about what is happening elsewhere in your body.

Notice something unusual? Get properly examined. Your eyes—and your health—deserve attention.

A foreign object in the eye—whether dust, metal, sand, or any other particle—should never be taken lightly.

🚨 Don’t leave it there for days or try to remove it with unsafe methods. A seemingly harmless particle can cause scratches, infection, inflammation, or other eye complications.

👉 Get to an eye clinic as soon as possible for proper examination and safe removal.

Your eyes are precious. When something gets into your eye, don’t wait—get it checked! 👁️💙
