NUCDC 2026 AWARD PRESENTATION TO UNIVERSITY OF ILORIN🎊

As part of NUCDC 2026 award presented on May 19th, University of Ilorin, 1st Runner-up NUCDC "26, received a cash prize of One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira presented by Royal Rhetorics. The team was praised for their hard work and determination.

NUCDC 2026 CONCLUDES IN GRAND STYLE AS GODFREY OKOYE UNIVERSITY CROWNED CHAMPIONS

The maiden edition of the National Universities Commission Debating Championship (NUCDC) 2026 officially came to an exciting close on the 15th of May, 2026, marking the end of weeks of rigorous intellectual trainings and argumentation among some of Nigeria’s finest university debaters.

The NUC training and Championship, which lasted several weeks, brought together brilliant minds from universities nationwide, fostering intellectual engagement, debate training, critical thinking, and stellar competition among young leaders.

After an intense and highly competitive championship, the following universities broke to finals; University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Amadeus University Amizi, University of Ilorin and Godfrey Okoye University. At the end, Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu State, emerged as the overall winner of NUCDC 2026 with Egbogu Favour Ogechukwu and Ajoiyi Kosisochukwu leading the institution to victory and winning the cash prize of #500,000 and securing a spot to participate at West African Universities Debating Championship (WAUDC).

We congratulate the convener, Corps member Abuta Janefrancis, all participating institutions, adjudicators, our world-class trainers, Royal Rhetorics team and NUC representatives who contributed to the success of this historic event. As NUCDC 2026 comes to a close, one thing is certain; we have elevated the standard of university debating and demonstrated the immense potential of Nigerian students for national and global stages.

This initiative, proposed by a serving NYSC member and powered by Royal Rhetorics in collaboration with the National Universities Commission (NUC), has brought together brilliant minds from universities across Nigeria to build employability skills through structured debating.

Meet the Facilitators of the NUC Debate Training 2026 (Day 1 - 4)

We are proud to introduce a team of intellectually driven facilitators from Royal Rhetorics who have been leading this transformative debate training from Day 1 to 4. The training focused on critical thinking, argumentation, analysing motions, and strategic engagement during debate rounds.

However, in the course of the training, participants been equipped with the tools to analyze issues deeply, articulate ideas persuasively, and engage meaningfully in discussions that shape society.
