Still on "Corel Draw"
THE OBJECT / DRAWING TOOLS
There are some of the tools specifically designed for drawing different lines and shapes.
These tools can be activated through the TOOL BOX among them are:
RECTANGULAR TOOL: This tools lets you draw or add rectangle and square to your drawing.
Steps:
1. Click the rectangle tool from the tool box.
2. Your mouse pointer will change to precision select, click and drag on your page to appear.
NB: To apply a rounded corner, double click at the object,(nodes will appear on the line of the rectangle) Position your mouse pointer at the nodes click and drag on the edge to appear.
ELLIPSE TOOL: It allows you to draw a circle or ova/global shape.
Steps:
1. Click the Ellipse tool from the box.
2. Your mouse pointer will change to precision select, click and drag on your page to appear.
NB: You can also convert the circle to pie or Arc by clicking at Pie or Arc icon/ button at the property bar.
POLYGON TOOL: This drawing tool helps you to add a polygon shape (Five-Line object) to your drawing.
Steps:
1. from the tool box, Click on the polygon Tool.
2. Your mouse pointer will change to precision select, Click and drag on your drawing to appear.
NB: This polygon shape can also be converted to Star or triangle even circle by clicking at the star setting button on the property bar.
CUTING: It is a process of moving text or object from its clipboard to a particular location within your drawing.
Steps:
1. Select the object or the text
2. Go to Edit Menu, Click on cut
3. Let the insertion point appear at a different location specified, go back to edit menu click on page.
SELECTING: It is obvious that computer will not respond to the command given to it (based on text and objects) if not highlighted. Therefore are two major ways of selecting in our drawing.
Steps:
1. Using the pick tool (click or drag over the item)
2. Calling up the select All command from the Edit Menu.
INSERTING BARCODE: Barcode have to do with the serial number of a product which is normally represented in bar format.
Steps:
1. Go to edit menu
2. Click at insert Barcode, A dialogue box will appear Run the Bar code Wizard by following the specified options and entering the required number and clicking on NEXT button. Finally Click on FINISH to activate the barcode on your drawing
3. Position your two-headed pointer at the bounding box, click and drag to enlarge.
SHAPING: This is an act of changing the original/default shape of an object by editing its nodes and segments.
Steps:
1. Make a drawing using any of the object tool (Rectangle)
2. Click at the shaping tool from the tool box
3. Adjust it nodes and segments towards the direction of your choice.
SING THE ERASER TOOL: Eraser tool helps you to remove or alter portions of an object.
Steps:
1. Open the shaping tool drop-down list, click on the Eraser tool.
2. Drag over/across the object to wipe it off.
USING THE KNIFE TOOL: This tool can be used in cutting objects into more than one path.(in other way round it can be used to cut objects into shreds/pieces).
Steps:
1. Open the shaping tool drop-down list, Click on the Knife tool.
2. Drag the tool-from where you want to start to where you want the cut to end.
TRANSFORMATION: There are several ways of transforming objects, which involves changing the appearance of the object without altering their basic shape. The transformation command comprises the following on its Docker Window:
Rotate: Turning/reposition an object from its original position.
Mirror and Scale: Create a reflection/new object from the active object in your drawing.
Skew: Bending/apply slant format to an object.
Steps:
1. Make a drawing of an object using any of the drawing tools.
2. Highlight the object.
3. Go to Arrange Menu, Select Transformation.
4. Transformation Docker Window will display.
Interact with the above mentioned commands and Finally Click on APPLY TO DUPLICATE button to appear on the object.
NB: To deactivate the Transformation option, click on clear transformation.
ROTATING AN OBJECT USING MOUSE:
Steps:
1. Draw and select the object using the pick tool.
2. Double click at the object, to the display the rotating handle
3. Position the rotating handle at the curved arrows.
4. Drag one of the corner arrows in a circular direction to display.
SKEWING AN OBJECT USING MOUSE:
Steps:
1. Draw and select the object with the pick tool.
2. Double click at the object, to display the skewing handle which appears as two-way arrows.
3. Position the skewing handle at the straight double arrows.
4. Drag the object to display the skew.

This is the continuation of our previous lecture on "Corel draw"
Read carefully and don't miss a step.
Here we go:-
DRAWING DIFFERENT LINES/ CURVES
BEZIER TOOL: This tool allows you to draw lines (straight and diagonal) and curves.
Steps:
1. Click at the Bezier tool from the tool box.
2. Your mouse pointer will change to precision select, Drag from the point you want to place the first node. Then click from the node where you stopped to a different direction. Finally release the mouse button to view the draw.
FREEHAND TOOL: It can be also used in drawing line and curves, Basic different from the Bezier tool being that the drawing appears automatically as you drag its precision select.
Steps:
1. Click at the freehand tool from the tool box.
2. Click and drag on the page to activate the drawing.
DIMENSION TOOL: This performs a high sensitive task compare to other line drawing tools, in the sense that it display the “inches” of the line as you are working with it.
Steps:
1. From the tool box, click on the dimension tool.
2. Your mouse pointer will change to precision select, click and drag on your drawing to appear.
CONNECTOR LINE TOOL: The connector line tool can be used in creation of straight lines. (either horizontal, vertical or diagonal lines).
Steps:
1. Click at the tool box, select the connector line tool.
2. Click and drag towards the direction you desire in order to display on your page drawing.
INTERACTIVE CONNECTOR TOOL: This tool is used in creating connected lines which joins to each other, it is similar to the dimension tool but the difference being that the inches is not shown/ specified as you draw with the tool.
Steps:
1. Room the tool box, click on the interactive connector tool.
2. Your mouse pointer will change to precision select, click and drag on your drawing to activate it.
ARTISTIC MEDIA TOOL: It can be used to achieve complicated or complex drawing objects, therefore providing the following options/ commands for the complex activities:
Preset = Activates bold lines as ribbon.
Brush = adds graphics.
Sprayer = creates more graphics compared to brush.
Calligraphic = display parallel lines with joints at the tow ends (mom bus)
Pressure = creates single lines.
Steps:
1. Click on the artistic media tool from the tool box.
2. Your mouse pointer will change to pen form, drag on your page to add the shape.
NB: The appearance of the drawing will depend on the one specified or selected from the above five mentioned methods/ tools. You can change the default drawing of the Artistic media by selecting another one from the selecting box at the property bar.
NORMAL: It displays the normal or original view of the page and it contents (drawing)
SIMPLE WIREFERAME: It shows the control objects of blends, extrudes and contours in a drawing.
WIREFEAME: It displays the bitmaps effects in grayscale.
FULL SCREEN PREVIEW: It makes the drawing to cover the whole screen.
PREVIEW SELECTED ONLY: Here only the selected objects or items will cover the screen.

PRINTABLE AREA
These listed commands can be used in switching on (show) or switching the tool mentioned.
GRID AND RULER SEUP
GUIELINE SETUP
These activates or opens a dialogue box for selecting setting options on how the elements mentioned will look like.
SNAP TO GRID
SNAP TO GUIELINES
SNAP TO OBJECTS: These commands mentioned helps to turn ON or OFF the grid, guideline, and object. Whenever ON the grid, guideline, and object behaves like magnets forcing object into alignment with them.
NB: The above commands will be activated through the view menu.
THE ZOOMING TOOL: makes viewing of drawing easier; whenever the tool is applied the property bar will change to allow you view to any level with the available tools such as:
Zoom in: To magnifies or increase the portion of the page.
Zoom out: it returns the view to the last zoom in.
Zoom to Actual size: It display the drawing at the size at which it will be printed.
Zoom to page: it display the entire printable page.
THE VIEW MANAGER: The view Docker manager provides a full range of tools for changing the view of your drawing. Like the ones mentioned above.

++++DEALING WITH DRAWINGS++++
Still on "Corel Draw"
This lesson introduces the basics ways of designing and setting up a drawing in Corel Draw.
The term DRAWING have to do with the objects, text and graphics we have on our page/document.
CREATING A NEW DRAWING:
This have to do with a graphic from the scratch (blank)
Step:
1. From file menu
2. Click on new
OPENING AN EXISTING DRAWING:
This is an act of retrieving a drawing or documents save in any of the disk (storage device).
Steps:
1. Click on file menu, select and click the open command
2. A dialogue box will appear, specify the drive/folder where the file was stored.
3. Select the file name.
4. Finally click at the ok button
IMPORTING FILES TO YOUR DRAWING:
It is all about the bringing-in several types of image and files from a desired program and places it on your default drawing.
Steps:
1. From file menu, click on import
2. A dialogue box will appear, choose a drive from the list box
3. Click at the specified filename; and click on import button
4. Click and drag on your page to display or place the image
CLOSING A DRAWING:
This is a process of terminating an active drawing (graphic-with its contents)
Steps:
1. Click on file menu;
2. Click at close
SAVING A DRAWING:
This is a process of registering a document on any of specified storage device:
Steps:
1. Go to file menu;
2. Click on save as
3. A dialogue box will display, verify the folder/ drive from the list box
4. Enter a filename at the text box, finally click on save button
After saving for the first time, Click on save option from file menu to save the changes made device
PREVIEWING A DRAWING:
It is all about seeing or having a look on how your output will look like
Step:
1. From file menu,
2. Click on print preview.
PRINTING A DRAWING:
This is to have the information you have on the screen (softcopy) on a paper (hard copy)
Step:
1. Click at file menu, select print command.
2. A dialogue box will appear (print setup), specify the following options: Name of the printer, paper size, page orientation, ranges Etc.
3. Finally click on print button.
NB: Your printer must be installed before this command will be activated, and papers present.
INFORMATION ABOUT A DRAWING:
This creates awareness about the contents of your page.
Steps:
1. From file menu,
2. Click at document info. (Info. Meaning information).
SETTING UP A DRAWING:
This have to do with choosing or making selections on how our page will look like to the enhance a good drawing or document.
Steps:
1. Go to layout menu, click on page setup.
2. A dialogue box will appear, select the options such as: paper size, page.
3. Finally click the Ok button.
OTHER OPTIONS FOR INTERACTING WITH YOUR PAGE INCLUDES:
INSERT PAGE: It adds new pages to the current drawing allowing you to create a multi- page document.
DELETE PAGE: It removes page from a multi- page document.
GO TO PAGE: Display the contents of a specified page in a multi- page document.
RENAME PAGE: it helps in rename a default page which will appear on the navigator bar.
SWITCH PAGE ORIENTATION: change the page orientation automatically, (landscape or portrait).
RESIZE PAGE: It helps in change the paper size to one desired.
Steps: The above treated commands can be applied through layout menu and then you specify the option (if it have a dialogue) without s Dialogue, click to Activate automatically.
ADJUSTING THE VIEW OF A DRAWING BY ZOOMING:
There are several ways of magnifying / increasing or reducing the view of the page.
1. Using the zoom tool.
2. Using the view menu.
GRAPH PAPER TOOL:
This tool allows you to draw a grid pattern or table or cell.
Steps:
1. From the tool box, click on the graph paper tool.
2. Your mouse pointer will change to precision select, click and drag on your drawing to appear.
NB: The default setting is four columns and three rows, But you change on your box at the property bar by typing in the number of rows/ columns desired.
SPIRAL TOOL:
This tool lets you to draw or add a spiral shape to your drawing or document.
Steps:
1. Click on the spiral tool from the tool box.
2. Your mouse pointer will change to precision select, Drag on your page to add the shape
NB: You can change the number of the revolution by typing in the desired number in the Spiral Revolution Box at the property bar, then draw to again to appear.
BASIC SHAPE TOOL:
It can be used in adding or creating varieties of shapes such as: Arrows, flowchart, stars, and callout.
Steps:
1. Click on the basic shapes tool from the box.
2. Your mouse pointer will change to precision select, drag on your to add the shape.

+WELCOME TO COREL DRAW+
INTRODUCTION:
CorelDraw is a graphic application package that provides supplicated facilities used to produce drawings and manipulate an image in order to create beatified documents. CorelDraw is an intuitive graphics design application that gives designers a more enjoyable work experience.
It can also said to be a Desktop publishing program because of its ability to combine on a page such elements as text (in a variety typefaces) arts and photos, thus creating attractive documents such as letter heading, memo, newspaper etc.
CorelDraw involved full fledged typesetting and graphics; it is a window based program designed by Corel Corporation which replaces the old model of artworks in electronics format
There are several versions of Corel draw, depending the changes in its facilities and screen elements.
ACTIVATING THE COREL DRAW ENVIRONMENT
There are some of the steps one ought to apply before Corel draw screen appear which involved.
1. Boot the computer system to desktop window
2. Click on start button
3. Slip to program
4. Select corel draw (version)
5. Select and click draw (version 9,10,11,12)
The system will now need to display the environment with a “Welcome to CorelDRAW: dialogue box with the following options:
-New Graphic
-Open Last Edited
-Open Graphic
-Template
-Corel Tutor
-What’s New?
Then you click at any to begin. To start a blank page click on NEW GRAHPIC to begin. Now the page or graphic will be activated to show full Corel Draw Screen and its elements.
