Wednesday October 7 – Defend Your Name, unlike the Baal
But Joash replied to the hostile crowd around him, "Are you going to plead Baal's cause? Are you trying to save him? Whoever fights for him shall be put to death by morning! If Baal really is a god, he can defend himself when someone breaks down his altar" (Judg.6.31)
The Almighty God needs no man’s security to protect His interest. He can defend Himself. Baal is an idol of human-made. It needs human protection. It is lifeless material that needs the man who has life to make it remain or move. Any god that needs human power to survive is not God. The true God needs no advocate, defender, or avenger. He can defend His own name without any assistance. Tell Him your case. He will defend His name in your steps.
Thought for Today: God is self-defensive.
O Lord, turn my oppressors to my subjects. Humiliate those who are hostile to me because of Your name. Be my defender and avenger. Defend Your name, unlike the Baal, in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
Tuesday October 6 – End the Activities of my Invaders
Whenever the Israelites planted their crops, the Midianites, Amalekites and other eastern peoples invaded the country (Judg.6.3)
The suffering of many people is not because of laziness, but inability to truly harvest their planting. Many people work very hard, but others gain their own reward. The Midianites were oppressive in their relationship with the Israelites. The Israelites were always the laborers in planting crops to the time of harvest. The Midianites were always the harvesters. Are you suffering in the hands of the invaders? You labor, but they claim the resting. You planted, but they do the harvesting. You work only for them to be the beneficiaries. The Lord will deliver you. He will stop the activities of the invaders in your land. Make your cry to the Lord like the Israelites.
Thought for Today: The Lord delivers anyone who cries to Him.
O Lord, turn my oppressors to my subjects. Pull down every structure put in place for my enslavement. Lift me above my invaders. End the activities of my invaders in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
Monday October 5 – Make me like the Sun
"So may all your enemies perish, O Lord! But may they who love you be like the sun when it rises in its strength." Then the land had peace forty years (Judg.5.31)
The sun rises without anything capable of blocking it. The psalmist describes the sun as the bridegroom rising from his pavilion and champion rejoicing to run his course (Psa.19.4-5). The sun rises to see the destruction of its enemies. It rises in its strength and never grow weak. It has peace beyond any creature. The people like the sun have peace of the Lord not as the world gives. The peace they have transcends the understanding of any human being. Do you love the Lord? The Lord will show His love towards you by making you like the sun. keep renewing your love to the Lord.
Thought for Today: The peace of the Lord transcends human understanding.
O Lord, turn my oppressors to my subjects. Make me keep rising in strength. Make me continue to see the fall of my enemies. Make me like the sun in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
Sunday October 4 – Make the Stars fight for me
From the heavens the stars fought, from their courses they fought against Sisera (Judg.5.20)
God can use anything to fulfill His purpose. He can use anyone to carry out His mission. All the creatures are His instruments to carry out His plans, and they are also weapons to defend His cause. When the Canaanites’ kings rose against the people of God, Israel, the natures were used as weapons to fight them. The song of Deborah used stars representing natures as weapons against the enemies. The day and night fight against Jabin and Sisera involved the light carriers to work in favor of the Israel of God. God implores whatever He pleases to defend His people. He knows how to defend you. Trust Him to use anyone and anything for your defense. He will make you victorious in your fight.
Thought for Today: God can use anything, both visible and invisible.
O Lord, turn my oppressors to my subjects. Raise the stars of heaven for my fight. Raise the natures for my victory over my enemies. Make the stars fight for me in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
Saturday October 3 – Strengthen my Hands to press harder on my Oppressors
And the hand of the Israelites grew stronger and stronger against Jabin, the Canaanite king, until they destroyed him (Judg.4.24)
The oppressors in power think that no one is capable enough to dethrone them. King Jabin under the army commander, Sisera, thought his kingdom was established against ruin. He made life difficult for the Israelites thinking no one could deliver them. The Lord raised a woman, Deborah with the army commander, Barak, to make him flee. Sisera eventually died in the hand of a woman, Jael, the wife of Heber. The Israelites grew stronger and stronger until Jabin and his Canaan kingdom were destroyed. It is your time to grow stronger because the defeat of your oppressors have come. Rise in your divine power. Awake in your spirit. Never give up.
Thought for Today: When the Lord is our strength, we will keep rising and not fall.
O Lord, turn my oppressors to my subjects. Make me stronger than my enemies. Turn my haters to my captives. Strengthen my hands to press harder on my oppressors in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
Friday October 2 – Always be on my side
"Very well," Deborah said, "I will go with you. But because of the way you are going about this, the honor will not be yours, for the Lord will hand Sisera over to a woman." So Deborah went with Barak to Kedesh (Judg.4.9)
Victory belongs to those on the Lord’s side. Deborah was a prophetess. Barak was the captain of the army of Israel. The story of the victory over Sisera goes beyond Deborah-Barak relationship, which has always been understood as a woman taking honor that should belong to a man. Whoever is on the Lord’s side has the honor of victory. If the Lord is for us, no one can successfully be against us. Do you see yourself as in the battlefield? The Lord will be on your side. You will have the honor of victory.
Thought for Today: The Lord is on our side. We are more than the conquerors.
O Lord, turn my enemies to my subjects. Destroy the strongholds of my enemies. Make my attackers fall before me. Always be on my side in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
