The Veil Of Maturity
Through the disguise, I can now see the curse
It feels like I can finally connect these dots
I can see clearly for the plank has been lifted
I am free indeed for the yoke has been lifted
When others felt love , I felt indifference
When they experience fear, I labelled it weakness
I never knew malice, nor felt hatred
Every form of emotion, I suppressed out of existence
The law of trinity: body, soul and mind
I am a transgressor ,a Barabbas to this crime
For I ignored my heart; a concept I lost with time
That momentary pride though I was dying inside
I led with logic and called it maturity
That thrill I felt, a variant of insanity
The void grows bigger, my heart feels empty
The emotions you all feel is simply a mirage to me.

Love’s Awakening
Gracious light and overwhelming glory,
As I behold something so majestic,
Lost for words, my thoughts utterly scrambled,
You altered my chemistry, gave my life a whole new meaning.
Who I am with you is who I’m meant to be,
A tax collector now at Jesus’s feet,
When I dream of a future without you,
I becomes a nightmare, the abyss now slowly calls to me.
This is what it feels for man to be whole,
At long last I have found my thirteenth rib,
Scale every mountain and brave every ocean,
All this and more, I’ll do without a doubt because,
This joy I feel, it is love indeed, and when you’re with me, I can finally sense peace.

The Toil Of Manhood
Sinking in despair, redemption eludes me.
Must avoid the sun's gaze, must be kept hidden.
Mentally caged, emotionally imprisoned.
Searching for a saviour, the knight I'm meant to be.
The smile I wear to mask my fear.
My heart crumbles from the burden it bears.
As the sun sets, into the horizon I stare,
Finding solace knowing my end is near.
Like a lone warrior on a battlefield,
Who masks his fear with chivalry,
I stand alone in an empire of masculinity,
Where my tears are a mark of tyranny.
Wrote a medical poem for my anatomy department in med school serving a dual purpose of exposing the stages of depression while explaining the four heart sounds
Stages of Depression - The Four Heart Sounds
It all begins with closure,
Even within yourself, you feel cut off.
Society makes you bend under pressure,
And that's the first heart sound, the premier stage of depression.
Closure slowly develops into seclusion,
The path between you and society now feels severed.
Joy becomes a foreigner in your emotional kingdom,
And that's the second heart sound, slowly drowning, gasping for attention.
Next, your heart is rapidly inundated with diverse feelings,
All those emotions you kept locked and hidden,
Hit with an uncontrollable force that rivals gravity,
And that's the third heart sound, hopes of redemption now extinguished.
Ultimately, it all ends with a final kick,
It could push you overboard or back into reality,
The last involuntary effort to save your sanity,
And that's the fourth heart sound, but for some, it could be their heart's last sound.
Epilogue:
In the symphony of life's struggles and emotions, "Stages of Depression - The Four Heart Sounds" serves as a melodic reminder. It weaves the intricate rhythm of depression with the steady beats of the heart, offering a bridge between the emotional and the medical. Through its poetic lens, this work sensitizes us to the profound depths of despair while acting as a mnemonic guide to the four heart sounds. It is a testament to the power of words to educate, empathize, and heal.

The Friend Zone?
The echoes of the words you never said back, such deafening silence
The tears rolled down my cheeks, so softly
But my heart broke with every beat, I couldn't save me
Surely, slowly waiting for the certain
But like John the Baptist I doubted my Messiah's coming
I searched for my peace and I got her
I longed for a sister and I found one
She was a friend and confidant, a true one
She held a part to my whole, my better half
But the love I searched for was still not found
It was my expectation versus reality
But it soon became just a fantasy
My love story was never meant to be
My dream was just that, a dream
"I was just a friend" , those words soon became my burden.
