Happy birthday to the brain behind the VHCI Lab

The only person on our team who has walked the paths of the sciences, the social sciences and the arts, and done it so gracefully😅!

Eugene, the resource person.
Eugene, the researcher.
Eugene, the thinker.
Eugene, the optimist.
Eugene, the walking newspaper.
Eugene, the servant leader.
Eugene, the one in whose head ideas are constantly flowing.
Eugene, the minister of enjoyment.

Eugene, the overall best in caring and looking out for others.
Eugene, the teacher
Eugene, the guitarist.😁
Eugene, the coffee addict.😂
Eugene, the VR enthusiast.
Eugene, the…

We can go on and on, but we’ll still not be able to exhaust all you are and have been to us. So, today we celebrate the gift of having you lead our team, and we are grateful for the privilege to learn from you as you do from us.

May God bless you indeed and make this season of your life the best ever. May you excel in all ways and shine as the light you are.

Soar and thrive, Eugene!

Happy Birthday. 🎂🍷🥳🎊🎊🎊🎊

There’s nothing as fulfilling realising how much our work in the lab is impacting others.

One of our interns who worked in the lab for three months in 2024 shared her experience about how much she learnt from the lab and how the training and knowledge gained has helped her performance after returning to school.

Congratulations to our HCI Scholar in the making.

We look forward to more opportunities for impact.

We hosted some VR, AR, and XR enthusiasts and professionals at our first Immersive Technology Meet-up, Connected Spaces.

After years of building our VR experiences, facing challenges, meeting obstacles and surmounting them, we decided that it would be a great thing to share what we have come to learn in this journey with others on the same path.

We had conversations around the challenges faced in modelling 3D characters, 3D clothes, attaching clothes to characters and getting them to move in sync, rigging, weight-painting, solving the challenge of height calibration for full body avatars in embodied VR experiences, etc.

We also examined new trends in XR such as the incorporating the Blockchain technology into VR.

One thing we have come to realise is that you don’t know how much you know or can do or how much you don’t know or can’t do until you are faced with a challenge that requires that knowledge and skill. The complexities of our projects have exposed us to almost every form of challenge that can be encountered in building VR experiences and these learnings are what we desire to share with others.

We have also come to understand that VR, AR, XR and MR are still relatively new climes in this part of the world and since explorations are still ongoing, building a community where knowledge is shared and others can learn will significantly help the growth of many in this tech space.

It was an exciting time sharing and learning from one another at the meet-up. All our participants had the opportunity to share their own experiences and ask questions about areas where they needed help.

We look forward to more opportunities to connect, share and learn.

Thanks to our facilitators .samuel for the impactful sessions.

Today, we celebrate our wonderful 3D Clothes Designer, Feyiseye Fagbore .

Feyi is talented and exceptional. He is a gifted virtual fashion designer who cuts and sews virtual clothes with the same precision, expertise and attention to details that fashion designers give to designer outfits.

Feyi was our intern in the Lab for a few months and those months were very productive. He is a man of few words😁 but every minute he sits to clothe our characters always produce great results.

We are happy about how much you’ve grown and how far you are still to go. Having you on our team has been nothing short of a blessing.

We wish you a year filled with joy and happiness. May blessings come to you from all sides and may new opportunities for growth and impact open up to you.

Cheers to many more years of making VR magic.🥂

Happy birthday Feyi!🥳
