It was a pleasure to participate in the 16th AFRH Nigeria and 2nd AFFS Joint International Conference, bringing together professionals from about 20 countries to advance conversations on the frontiers of reproductive medicine.

I had the privilege of delivering the opening lecture on folliculogenesis and controlled ovarian stimulation, exploring the biology of follicular development and its application in assisted reproduction.

Beyond the scientific sessions, the conference was also an opportunity to reconnect with colleagues, build new friendships and exchange knowledge across borders.

Thank you to AFRH and AFFS for the invitation and for a remarkable gathering.

Beyond the clinic, reproductive health is also a question of society, rights and leadership.

I had the privilege of serving as a Resource Person at the Gender, Governance and Leadership Course at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, where I spoke on “Decision-Making in Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR): Gender Issues and Perspectives.”

It was an important opportunity to bring years of experience in reproductive medicine into a broader conversation about bodily autonomy, informed decision-making, gender, access to care, family dynamics and the systems that shape people's reproductive choices.

For me, this is where medicine must continue to meet society. Good reproductive healthcare is not only about what we can do clinically; it is also about whether people have the right information, meaningful access to care, and the agency to make informed decisions about their health.

I am grateful for the conversations, the connections made, and the perspectives shared by an exceptional group of participants and leaders.

Being recognised as the Best Presenter was an unexpected and deeply appreciated honour.

My sincere appreciation to NIPSS and the organisers of the GGaL Course for the opportunity to contribute.

How much can we know about a baby's genetic health before birth?

Tests such as CVS and amniocentesis can provide diagnostic information about certain genetic and chromosomal conditions, but they are not the same as routine prenatal screening, and they are not required for every pregnancy.

We'll look at why these tests may be recommended, what they can tell us, their limitations and risks, and what parents should understand when making informed decisions.

For many couples undergoing IVF, so much attention is placed on one moment: the pregnancy test. And understandably so.

But when that result comes back positive, another set of questions begins:

What happens next? When do we confirm the pregnancy on ultrasound? How long should medications continue? What should you expect during those first weeks? And when does the journey move from the fertility clinic into regular pregnancy care?
