*APPOINTMENT OF INTERIM HEAD OF DEPARTMENT*

Dr. Paul O. Haruuna has been appointed as the Interim Head of Department, Social Sciences and Humanities, following the relief of appointment of Dr. Patrick Innocent Alfa.

The appointment, as conveyed in a letter dated 19th December, 2025, signed by Dr. O.A. Oniyide,Registrar, takes immediate effect pending the election of a substantive Head of Department.

The Management and the Polytechnic community wish Dr. Haruna well in his new assignment.

*What is “NERD Clearance” / verification?*

“NERD Clearance” refers to the process by which your Academic Outputs (credentials such as certificates, transcripts, results, etc, as well as item submissions such as Project Reports, theses, dissertations, etc) are duly captured and permanently logged in the National Database of NERD / NCVS after validated for authenticity by your institution and thereafter considered genuine, unalterable, and referenceable with unique national verifiers (like the National Credential Number “NCN” and ancillary security codes) for purposes like NYSC mobilization.

What to know

I. Your school (or institution) electronically uploads your academic records (certificates, transcripts, exam results, etc – preferably the Senate-approved or Board-approved marksheets) into the NERD system so that they become part of the national databank. This is the responsibility of your institution-appointed NERD Record Officer (NRO) acting under the mandate of the Registrar.

II. In the case of academic credentials, the NCVS accepts what your institution has submitted as the genuine and authentic record, duly validated by your institution’s NDO.

III. Once verified, each credential is assigned a National Credential Number (NCN) and some security codes or a QR code / FrameQR code may be affixed to the certificate to enable instant verification in future. It is also possible under the NERD National Policy for your institution to make arrangements with NCVS and embed the NCN and associated security codes on each academic credential at the time of production

IV. A “Clearance Slip” or proof of successful compliance is issued or recorded, which is required for certain services (like NYSC mobilization) as proof that your credentials have complied with the NERD check. Once the NERD upload URL is released (those who have enrolled will get the URL in their inboxes), each student will see the “Process Clearance” on the left sidebar. They will also see the “Upl
