The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Chukwuma Soludo, candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), winner of the Anambra State governorship election.

INEC announced that a total of 584,054 votes were collated across the state, with Soludo securing 422,664 votes, maintaining a decisive lead over his closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered 99,445 votes. Other candidates include ADC: 8,208 votes and PDP: 1,401 votes.

State Collation Officer and Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, Prof. Edogah Omoregie, announced the figures after the collation exercise on Sunday at the commission’s headquarters in Awka.

Senator Ted Cruz Reacts to Trump’s Decision on Nigeria 🇳🇬🇺🇸

U.S. Senator Ted Cruz has expressed strong support for President Donald Trump’s decision to redesignate Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” over the ongoing persecution of Christians.

In a statement shared on his official platform, Senator Cruz said he is “deeply gratified” by the move, noting that he has “fought for years to counter the slaughter and persecution of Christians in Nigeria.”

He revealed that he had introduced legislation aimed at holding accountable Nigerian officials who, according to him, have allowed an environment where such attacks persist.

Part of his statement reads:

> “My legislation implements additional steps, including targeting those who implement blasphemy and Sharia laws in Nigeria. I am committed to working with the administration and my colleagues to advance my bill and implement these necessary measures.”

Senator Cruz also commended Trump’s leadership, describing his decision as “a great one.”

The U.S. government’s renewed focus on religious freedom in Nigeria has continued to generate wide reactions both locally and internationally.
