Albarka Health Spring Foundation
Albarka Health Spring Foundation AHSF is a registered nonprofit and non governmental Organisation aimed @ impacting lives of marginalized and vulnerables.
Albarka Health Spring Foundation visited Mafoni Government School and Destiny International School in Maiduguri, Borno State, as well as Hafsatu Ahmadu Bello Model Arabic Secondary School and Nana Girls School in Sokoto State, to sensitize pupils on the importance of menstrual hygiene management.
The awareness sessions were aimed at educating adolescent girls on proper menstrual health practices, promoting personal hygiene, and breaking the stigma and misconceptions surrounding menstruation. The initiative also sought to encourage confidence, dignity, and healthy habits among young girls, while empowering them with accurate knowledge about menstrual health.
During the outreach activities, the Foundation’s team engaged the pupils in interactive discussions on menstrual hygiene, the safe use and disposal of sanitary materials, and the importance of maintaining cleanliness during menstruation. The sessions created a safe and supportive environment where the girls freely asked questions, shared experiences, and received guidance on managing their menstrual health with confidence and dignity.
As part of the intervention, sanitary pads and dignity kits were distributed to the students to support proper menstrual hygiene management and ensure access to essential hygiene materials. The distribution aimed to help reduce period poverty, improve school attendance among girls, and promote their overall health, well-being, and self-esteem.
The outreach reflects Albarka Health Spring Foundation’s continued commitment to improving the lives of young girls through health education, advocacy, and community-based interventions that foster a healthier and more inclusive society.
