United States Confirms Deadly Airstrikes on ISIS Targets in Northwest Nigeria
The United States has confirmed that it carried out a series of airstrikes against Islamic State affiliated terrorist elements operating in northwest Nigeria.
In a statement shared via his official social media account and amplified by Fox News, former United States President Donald J. Trump said the strikes were executed under his direct authorization as Commander in Chief.
According to the statement, the operation targeted ISIS terrorists accused of orchestrating violent attacks in northwest Nigeria, including mass killings of civilians. Trump described the strikes as “powerful and deadly” and claimed they were carried out with precision by the US military.
He further stated that the decision followed earlier warnings issued to the terrorist group, asserting that continued attacks on civilians would trigger a direct military response. The statement emphasized that the United States would not allow radical Islamist terrorism to expand or gain strength.
While US officials have confirmed the strikes, Nigerian authorities have yet to issue an official response detailing coordination, casualty figures, or the exact locations affected. Independent verification of the scale and impact of the operation remains ongoing.
Security analysts note that northwest Nigeria has experienced escalating violence from multiple armed groups in recent years, including terrorist factions and criminal militias, with civilians bearing the brunt of the attacks.
The development marks a significant moment in US involvement in counterterrorism operations connected to Nigeria and raises questions about future international military cooperation in the region.
Corruption Reporter will continue to monitor developments and provide updates as more verified information becomes available.
