Okahandja rugby lovers were left wanting more over the weekend when Okahandja Highlanders Rugby faced the visiting Etosha Rugby Club🦁. The Namibia Rugby Union First division game was called off 25 minutes prematurely due to lightning hazard close to Okahandja Park stadium.

Within the first 3 minutes Divann Steyn scored the first try of the game in favour of Etosha Lions. The try was then successfully converted by Geovanne Rittmann. Etosha Lions 7, Okahandja Highlanders 0.

Duncan Subeb then converted a penalty in the 11th minute making the score, Okahandja Highlanders 3, Etosha Lions 7.

In the 15th minute Siegfried Potgieter then scored a try in favour of Etosha Lions, Rittmann then successfully converted it making the score, Etosha Lions 14, Okahandja Highlanders 3.

Andy Kahikopo then scored the only try for Okahandja Highlanders in the 19th minute. It was then converted by Subeb. Highlanders 10, Etosha Lions 14.

The 27th minute Nguvitja Tjaronda scored another try for Etosha Lions. Rittmann converted it making the final score, Okahandja Highlanders 10, Etosha Lions 21.

With the Namibia Rugby Union (NRU) 2025 season already in its starting stages. The season kicked off with two First Division games that took place on Saturday. The Premier, Reserve and Women's League will commence on Saturday, the 15th of March.
In Windhoek Vipers Rugby Club hosted Oceans Rugby Club from the coast at Pioneerspark Primary School. The scoreboard remained nil all, well within the first few minutes of the first half as both teams managed to maintain composure. It was only in the 17th minute when Anton Potgieter managed to convert a penalty kick, bringing the score to 3:0 in favor of Vipers. William Abrahams then scored the first try of the game for the coastal visitors Oceans in the 25th minute.
The second half saw both teams try their best to attain more points. It was however only in the last minute of the game when Nicky Shimwe Shimakeleni from Vipers scored a try, solidifying their win against Oceans 8:5.

In the other NRU First Division game, Okahandja Highlanders Rugby beat a traveling Sparta United Rugby Club 15-3 in Okahandja.
