Short History & Why We Celebrate Independence Day in Namibia

Namibia’s Independence Day marks the end of a long struggle for freedom.
Before independence, Namibia was controlled by South Africa for many years. During this time, many Namibians were not free and had limited rights.

A liberation movement led by organizations like SWAPO fought for independence. After years of conflict and international support, Namibia finally became an independent country on 21 March 1990. On that day, the Namibian flag was raised for the first time, and Sam Nujoma became the country’s first president.

1 varkkop, goed skoongemaak
2 teelepels sout
1 teelepel swartpeper
1 teelepel paprika
3 knoffelhuisies, fyn
2 eetlepels olie
1 ui, grof gekap

Metode

Verhit oond tot 180 °C.
Vryf die varkkop met sout, peper, paprika, knoffel en olie.
Sit die ui onder in ’n oondbak en plaas die varkkop bo-op.
Bedek met foelie en bak vir 2½–3 ure totdat die vleis sag is.
Haal foelie af en bak nog 20–30 minute sodat die vel lekker bros word.
