It’s a wrap for the SMD IC Design Make-a-thon 2026 State-Level Competition at Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus, Kuching! 🎉

Teams from Sibu, Miri, and Kuching came together for three exciting days of circuit design, guided simulations, prototyping, and industry mentorship. More than a competition, the Make-a-thon sparked curiosity, strengthened technical skills, and connected aspiring chip designers from across Sarawak—building the next generation of talent for the state’s semiconductor industry.

Chumbaka proudly presents the SMD IC Design Challenge—a 14-month programme nurturing Sarawak’s emerging talents in integrated circuit (IC) design.

Bringing together students from Swinburne, UNIMAS, Curtin University Malaysia, and UTS, the programme challenges teams to develop high-performance, power-efficient IC designs. Their journey began with an intensive five-day bootcamp, building the skills and foundations needed to innovate in this rapidly evolving field.

Chumbaka recently conducted a Refresher Training for teachers from sponsored schools in Lawas, Penampang, and Bangsar Pudu.

Through engaging discussions and experiential activities, teachers revisited key programme frameworks, reflected on student learning and project progress, and strengthened their implementation plans. The session equipped teachers to identify areas for improvement and confidently plan their next steps.

Chumbaka recently wrapped up its Closing and Online Reflection Session, bringing together teachers and students from 10 selected schools across Kuala Lumpur, Sabah, Sarawak, Terengganu, Penang, Johor, and Selangor.

The session featured an inspiring address by KWSP’s Chief Human Resource Officer, alongside heartfelt reflections from teachers on their programme journey. Students developed a stronger interest in STEM, greater confidence in communication, and valuable exposure to technology through hands-on learning with tablets and the Kayam app. Several students also progressed out of remedial classes, while schools reported improved attendance and classroom engagement—reflecting the programme’s meaningful impact.

Chumbaka was proud to host the Program Anak Kita Sarawak Learning Seminar and Closing Event 2026 on 24 June 2026 at Imperial Hotel Kuching.

The event brought together 60 teachers from selected high-performing schools, representing the 408 educators participating in PAK Sarawak across 30 District Education Offices (PPDs).

Celebrating the achievements and lessons from the 2025 implementation of PAK Sarawak, the seminar provided teachers with a platform to share their intervention approaches, use of data, classroom strategies, and challenges in strengthening foundational literacy and numeracy.

Through the PAK School Poster Showcase, gallery walk, networking sessions, and guided reflections, participants came together as a Professional Learning Community (PLC)—celebrating their impact on pupils’ learning while inspiring one another to sustain and strengthen their efforts in the year ahead.

On this meaningful day, may we be reminded of the values of compassion, wisdom, humility, and kindness.

Throwback to last Saturday’s Young Innovators Challenge 2026 – Sarawak Southern Zone State Finals!

A huge shoutout to all the talented students who showcased their incredible projects under this year’s theme - AI for Social Good: Discover, Analyse and Innovate.

We were truly inspired by your creativity, teamwork and determination to use technology to address real-world challenges and create a positive impact.

Congratulations to the Gold Award winners from Yayasan Sarawak International Secondary School Petrajaya and SMK Penrissen! The teams will now be in the running to qualify for the National Innovation Summit, taking place in Kuala Lumpur this September. We wish them all the best in the next stage of their innovation journey!

A heartfelt thank you to all the teachers and parents for their continuous guidance, encouragement and support.

We would also like to express our appreciation to our state partners, the Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD) Sarawak and Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation, as well as our venue host, Makeramai KCH, for making the event possible.

As we celebrate Gawai, we had a fun time learning a little more about the rich culture and traditions behind this special festival through a Kahoot quiz activity.

Congratulations to all the students who participated, and especially to those who won a small gift from us. We hope this experience helped spark curiosity, appreciation, and a deeper understanding of the meaning of Gawai.

We are grateful to have welcomed a full house of curious young learners to our 2-day Holiday School Program at Tegas Batu Kawa Innovation Hub this school holiday.

Thank you to all the parents for giving your children the opportunity to explore, create, and learn through hands-on technology activities. We hope they left with new skills, happy memories, and new friendships.

A special thank you to for providing such a beautiful and conducive space that allows us to bring learning and innovation closer to the Batu Kawa community.

Over the past two days, we conducted a Train-the-Teacher session for Junior Innovate 2026 at our centre. We were inspired by the dedication of the school teachers who attended and their eagerness to learn how to equip future generations with the technology and skills.

Special thanks to MEITD and SDEC for their support of teachers and students in Sarawak. Thank you for enabling us to work with students in Sarawak embrace technology in learning and preparing them with the skill sets needed to navigate an ever-changing future. Here we go Sarawak!
