The scene at Sibu Boat Express wharf in the early morning. On 1 June every year, the Dayak community in Sarawak celebrates the Gawai Day celebration to celebrate the end of the rice harvest season. The festival's history began when a forum was held at a radio station in 1957 to discuss the importance of creating a celebration for Dayak tribes. During the British rule the colonies refused to recognize the festival until it was officially proclaimed by the Sarawak State Government on 25 September 1964 with the efforts of Dato Sri Tra Zehnder and several Dayak leaders who became State Assemblymen at that time. Originally Gawai Day was a more religious celebration for the Dayaks, the Iban, Bidayuh and Orang Ulu tribes as a sign of thanks to 'Petara' (God) every time after the harvest and before starting rice cultivation for the next season. The Gawai Dayak celebration demands the community to respect the culture and ensure the 'spirit' of the paddy is always maintained and continues to be respected forever. The Gawai Day celebration or also called "Hari Gawea" in the Bidayuh dialect is now a symbolic demonstration of the unity, aspiration and hope of the Dayaks in Sarawak.

Shaheila binti Abdul Majid, popularly known as Sheila Majid is a Malaysian female pop singer who is best known for her 1986 song, "Sinaran". At first, it wasn't an easy journey for her. Her father have always associated music with all things bad- alcohol, drugs, late nights. It was only later when he heard her playing that he realised what music meant to her and gave her his blessings. While in her music career of thirty years Sheila Majid has gathered a huge following, for the singing superstar, it is the work of Stevie Wonder who she admires the most when it comes to music. “He is the ultimate. I have nothing more to say."
