CATCHING BLUE SEA & SKY
Acrylic on canvas
Autism and Art

By Dave Hwang
18 years old

---

This piece is especially meaningful as it is Dave's first exploration of painting with pallete knife.

As a student with autism, Dave brings a unique sensitivity to color and texture, offering a perspective that is both gentle and with hope.

"The birds bring dreams and achievement, the vast sky reflects the nurturing space of the school, while the window gives hope and the possibilities ahead."

Presented with appreciation and gratitude to his Principal on the occasion of retirement, though Dave may not express it in words, this painting carries his heartfelt thank you.

Thank you Cikgu for your years of dedication, guidance, and care in shaping the lives of students.

🎨 LEVEL UP : Studio Youth Artist Unlocked!

- - - -

A meaningful step in our students’ artistic journey.

At the studio, growth is beyond measured by skill alone, also by attitude, consistency, and the courage to express.

After a period of learning, observation, and quiet progress, some of our students are invited to step into a new chapter, from Studio Student to Studio Youth Artists.

🎉 Congratulations to:
1. Eve Tan
2. Samantha Tan
3. Natania Yong
4. Elwyn Sim
5. Raybelle Wong

Yes, this is more than a title.

It reflects a journey of sincerity, focus, and steady development, a recognition that each student is beginning to form their own artistic voice.

As part of the Studio Artist Community, they will experience:

• Mentorship and artistic direction
• Opportunities to develop artworks with greater depth and personal significance
• Learning how artists think, observe, and create beyond techniques
• Exposure to more art practices and creative processes
• Opportunities to represent the Studio in selected events and projects
• A clear pathway for continued growth in their artistic journey

Most importantly, they are given a safe and supportive space to explore, to try, and to grow at their own pace.

We are grateful to walk alongside them in this journey. 🥰

WARMTH ON THE CLOTHESLINE

Each piece 👗👕👖 on the line carries care ❤️; washed, hung, and warmed by the sun of family love.

---

Transition from animal themes to flowers and even to 🏡 are never immediate in our “Autism & Art” learning.

It requires time, and many quiet discussions with them. Most of the time, the answer is a big ‘NO’ at the beginning.

Joshua’s path reflects this same process, yet gradually he begins to embrace new themes and challenges beyond his comfort zone. Something beautiful is unfolding slowly now.

Thanks God for every small step of growth, even the smallest signs of change that carry so much meaning. 🥰

Struggling with colours at the beginning, Max tried again and again, never quite satisfied, yet never giving up.

At last, he got it.

🧡 💙 Each attempt brought new understanding, new courage.

Good job, son!

A GIFT OF COLOR,
A HEART OF LOVE.
Acrylic on canvas

By,
B**g Meng Hao
13 years old

---

"I want to show this 🐦 painting to mommy later," he said with a smile. 😊

---

In this simple yet meaningful moment, we witness the purest form of love from Meng Hao.

Art becomes a bridge between child and parent, a language beyond words, where pride, effort, and affection are gently expressed.

As parents, we don’t just see a painting; we see growth.
Each piece is a milestone, a window into a child’s inner world.

For this young teen, every brushstroke is more than practice. It is his way of saying:
“This is what I see, this is what I feel while I paint, and this is for you, Daddy and Mommy.”

In the meeting of nature, youth, and love, art becomes a memory, something to hold, to cherish, and to carry from the art room into the heart of home.

Good job, son! 🥰

Beneath the surface, life finds its way, quietly, persistently, beautifully.

Like the unseen roots that anchor and nourish a tree, our own journeys are often hidden, shaped by challenges, growth, and time.

This painting reflects the strength we build in silence, the connections that hold us together, and the resilience that carries us from darkness into light. Each layer is a reminder that even when unseen, growth is always happening.

LIVE with Inner Light 🌊🐢
Acrylic on canvas
Autism & Art

A little sea turtle,
breaks free from the sand and follows the light, step by step
toward the ocean, where its life truly begins.

---

Like a little sea turtle, an autistic child may begin quietly, moving at their own pace yet guided by an inner light.

For Dave, each step may seem small, but it carries courage and meaning, leading him forward to a world where he belong. ☀️

SEA TURTLE

By Elwyn Sim
13 years old
Studio Youth Artist

----

Dear Elwyn,

From your early days in primary school, Pri. 2 until now, we have watched you grow, not just as a young artist, but as a person.

Your journey has not always been easy, and that is what makes it meaningful. There were moments of doubt, times when things felt overwhelming, yet you continued. We have seen your quiet determination, your courage to try again, and your genuine love for art.

Growth does not happen all at once. It is built slowly, through patience, effort, and the willingness to keep going even when it is hard. You have shown this, step by step.

Keep trusting your journey, son. Your art will continue to grow with you. We will always be here for you.

Keep drawing. Keep discovering. And, Keep becoming. ❤️🥰
