Malaysia-based Dead Buzz’s debut EP stands as a sharp and confident entry into the modern powerviolence and hardcore punk landscape. A well formed and ambitious release for a seemingly direct and straightforward raging-hardcore frenzies to steer the scattered bursts of aggression, that isn’t just chasing chaos rather something more deliberate.

The band delivers an intricate interplay of short, striking, and violent guitar riffs with thick slides, rumbling bass loads tied in hidden frenetic complexities that sometimes emerge beneath the surface. Followed by a constant tempo shifts that move seamlessly from blistering speed into slower, more punishing sections. These transitions are anchored by mosh-worthy, power chord–chugs that feels primed to ignite an aggressive, fist-clenching hardcore riot.

The explosive gritty vocal delivery carries a sense of urgency and menace, while the drumming pushes everything forward with relentless force that stomp and driven by foreboding hooks that never lets up, even in the slower passages that integrate by balancing violence with memorability.

“Berserk” definitely serves as solid introduction to the band. Another promising take on seminal 90’s powerviolence and hardcore gems that adding enough structure and nuance to stand out in moving forward. - KP
