Thank you, farmers, for your hard work—often undervalued and underpaid. Your deep connection with the earth, crops, and land provides us with the food we rely on, yet too much of it goes to waste. The planet produces more than we need, and still, millions suffer from hunger. Access to healthy food is a basic human right. Growing your own food and having reliable access to it should never be driven by profit or treated as just a commodity.

My buena idea 💡

Mexico will launch a cellphone app with an alert button they can press if they think they are about to be detained by US immigration authorities, the Mexican government announced.

The move is in response to US President-elect Donald Trump's threats to carry out mass deportations after he takes office on Jan. 20.

"If you find yourself facing imminent arrest, you press an alert button that sends a signal to the nearest consulate," Mexican Foreign Minister Juan Ramon de la Fuente said. The app, which is expected to be ready in January, will also alert a person’s family and Mexico’s Foreign Ministry, he added.

Mexico says it has also beefed up consular staff and legal aid to help migrants who may face deportation.

Trump has promised to declare a national emergency at the border with Mexico, expel those who lack residency papers, and has called the arrival of migrants an "invasion." The number of migrants caught crossing the U.S.-Mexico border soared to record highs after President Joe Biden took office in 2021.

From Decriminalization to Border Crackdown, Harris Defends Shift in 1st Interview as Nominee 30/08/2024

A reasonable path to citizenship for the millions of law-obedient citizens who work, pay their taxes & contribute to the economy is urgently necessary & long overdue. Host countries in Latin America can help with opportunities for migrants, asylum seekers & refugees to work, and access health & education. At the same time, they wait for their interviews, petitions & cases could do tremendously well if or before they enter a country, society & world they are not prepared to face & cope with.

“Canales was known for putting out and filling up giant barrels filled with gallon-water jugs for migrants. Advocates say the water jugs were a lifeline for migrants lost in the punishing South Texas brush where temperatures often exceed 100 degrees and migrants can walk for days.”

Longtime South Texas migrant advocate has died Eddie Canales, a longtime migrant advocate whose South Texas nonprofit helps to search for lost and deceased migrants, has died of illness, Border Report has learned.
