Vacations are ending and we're kicking off the last month of this school cycle! We're getting ready to wrap up the year with tons of enthusiasm and joy, knowing we've shared amazing moments full of knowledge, new skills, and lots of love for nature and the sea 🌊

Se acaban las vacaciones y comenzamos el último mes de este ciclo escolar! Nos preparamos para cerrar este año con mucho entusiasmo y alegría, sabiendo que hemos compartido valiosos momentos llenos de conocimiento, nuevas habilidades y mucho amor por la naturaleza y el mar 🌊

We're super lucky to have friends like who always open their doors to us with generosity to organize events for the benefit of the Puerto Morelos community! On April 1st, we had an event where we raised $4,000 pesos! Thanks , your support means a lot to us 🙏🏼

Somos muy afortunados de contar con amigos como que siempre nos abren las puertas con mucha generosidad para organizar eventos en beneficio de la comunidad de Puerto Morelos! Este pasado 1 de abril tuvimos un evento en el que pudimos recaudar $4,000 pesos! Gracias , su apoyo es muy valioso para nosotros 🙏🏼

We want to deeply thank our friend and the fantastic for welcoming us so warmly to our "Open Stage" event on March 31st. Thanks to their support, we were able to raise $18,600 pesos!! And thanks to everyone who attended and contributed so that the Reef Rescue School can keep being a reality! We're a great community!

Queremos agradecer profundamente a nuestra amiga y el fantástico por recibirnos tan cálidamente en nuestro evento "Open Stage" del pasado 31 de marzo. 🪸 Last week we had the valuable visit of Dr. Anastazia Banaszak from the 'Integral Research for Reef Conservation' laboratory of UASA-ICMAL, UNAM. She told us about what a coral is, it's life cycle, and the two forms of reproduction they have: sexual and asexual. She shared with us the work they do at , which involves collecting gamete packages released by corals during synchronized spawning, assisting the fertilization process, and caring for the small coral recruits until they're big enough to be transplanted to specific sites within the reef in Puerto Morelos.

🪸 La semana pasada tuvimos la valiosa visita de la Dra. Anastazia Banaszak del laboratorio "Investigación Integral para la Conservación de Arrecifes" de la UASA-ICMAL, UNAM. Ella nos habló sobre qué es un coral, cómo es su ciclo de vida y las dos formas de reproducción que tienen: sexual y asexual. Nos compartió el trabajo que desarrollan en que consiste en colectar paquetes de gametos liberados por los corales en el desove sincronizado, asistir el proceso de fecundación y cuidar a los pequeños reclutas de coral hasta que tienen un tamaño adecuado para ser trasplantados a sitios específicos dentro del arrecife en Puerto Morelos.

At Reef Rescue School we are very fortunate to have the support of different people who are interested in environmental education and who enrich the experience of our students, such as the team of , whose project seeks to raise awareness about the importance of seagrass meadows and works toward their preservation. Thank you Raíces Marinas for sharing this activity with us, where we were able to learn more about seagrasses, the species associated with them, and the techniques used to monitor them.

En Reef Rescue School somos muy afortunados de contar con el apoyo de diferentes personas interesadas en educación ambiental que enriquecen la experiencia de los alumnos, como por ejemplo el equipo de Raíces Marinas, cuyo proyecto busca generar conciencia sobre la importancia de las praderas de pastos marinos y trabajan por su preservación. Gracias Raíces Marinas por compartir esta actividad en la que pudimos conocer mejor a los pastos marinos, las especies que se relacionan con ellos y las técnicas que se usan para monitorearlos.
