Some people with ADHD spend years being told they are not trying hard enough, not paying attention or not organised enough.

But ADHD is not a lack of effort. It is a different way of experiencing attention, time, emotions, energy and everyday demands.

This month, let’s make room for more understanding. Let’s be patient when someone needs extra time, flexible when routines feel difficult and encouraging when small steps take real effort.

Awareness is not just knowing the name ADHD. It is choosing to listen without judgement, respect individual needs and recognise the strengths behind every person.

Because feeling understood can change everything. πŸ’œπŸ€²

Reflections from the IDEA Group Symposium - IDEA Care 01/10/2026

🧠Knowledge. 🀝Attitude.πŸ’™ Heart. What does excellent care really take?

For the fifth edition of the IDEA Care newsletter, we are thrilled to share a personal reflection from the IDEA Group Symposium, Safe by Design.

The conversations brought research, education, leadership and healthcare together.
But one message stayed with us: knowledge makes care safer, while listening makes it personal.
The person receiving support is not simply the subject of a care plan. They bring the expertise of their own life, and their voice must help shape the care they receive.

This edition is about why we keep learning, why attitude matters just as much as qualifications, and why professionalism should never come at the expense of humanity.

Because behind every care plan is a person who deserves to feel respected, valued and heard.πŸ’™

Back to school can feel overwhelming for some autistic children. New routines, unfamiliar faces, and busy spaces can take time to adjust to.

A little predictability and support can make the transition feel easier. Watch for practical ways to help your child settle at their own pace. πŸ’œ

Personal care is deeply personal. It is about the everyday moments that help someone feel comfortable, confident and like themselves, from getting ready for the day to maintaining familiar routines in a way that feels right for them.

At IDEA Care, we believe personal care should always be guided by dignity, privacy, choice and respect. It means taking time to listen, understanding each person’s preferences and offering support with patience and kindness-never taking over, but standing alongside them.πŸ’™

A little support, given with compassion, can make a meaningful difference. Let us make dignity part of everyday care.

πŸ’™ A morning dedicated to connection, compassion and community.

IDEA Care was delighted to take part in the Malta Dementia Society Walk and join so many individuals, organisations and community members who came together for a cause that touches so many lives.

Moments like these remind us of the value of standing together, creating greater understanding and making sure that no one feels alone on their journey.

A heartfelt well done to everyone who took part and contributed to making the morning so meaningful. πŸ’™

Proud to have been part of it. Together, we keep moving forward.

Feeling cared for should always include feeling heard.πŸ’œ

Choice is part of what makes a day feel like your own. It might mean taking the morning at a comfortable pace, keeping a familiar routine, spending time on an activity you enjoy, or deciding how and when you would like support. These may seem like small decisions, but they can make a meaningful difference to someone’s confidence and sense of control.🌿

At IDEA Care, we take the time to listen. We get to know the person behind the care needs, their habits, preferences and the things that matter most to them. By involving each person in decisions about their support, we can help them feel respected and comfortable in their own home.

Because good care is not only about what we do for someone. It is also about making sure their voice remains part of every decision.

Today, we mark the International Day of Sign Languages β€” a reminder of the importance of inclusive communication and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to be heard and understood.

At IDEA Care, we believe in creating environments where communication, dignity and inclusion are at the heart of care.

Every voice deserves to be heard. 🀝

A safer home does not need to feel clinical or unfamiliar. Often, it is the small, thoughtful changes that make everyday movement feel more comfortable and reassuring.

Clear walkways, good lighting, and frequently used items kept within easy reach can help reduce avoidable risks while protecting familiar routines.

At IDEA Care, we believe safety and dignity should always go together. Creating a safer environment is not about limiting independence. It is about helping people feel more confident, steady, and secure in the place they know best.

✨ Small changes at home can make a meaningful difference every day.
