The Staffcounter server stopped deleting old data from devices not working the previous weekday.
In this way, an archive of the work of employees who left their jobs is preserved. Why is this necessary? For retrospective investigation of data breaches.
It is unlikely that an employee engaged in intellectual espionage would remain at work after completing his mission. Most likely, to avoid punishment, he will try to leave work immediately after he has done his evil deed.

If an employee suddenly leaves, management should be suspicious, and we do not recommend immediately deleting his virtual device from the server. Let there be some more time. You can move such devices to a separate department.

Typically, the storage time for data and files in the Standard package is 105 days, and in the Professional package - 180. This will be the case for computers that work every day. However, the server will not clear devices that have stopped sending data. This will be a kind of archive for internal security. If the management considers storing it inappropriate, they can clear it anytime or delete the virtual device altogether.

If you plan to save money and not expand your Staffcounter subscription when hiring a new employee to replace the old one, you can delete the old employee's virtual device and connect a new one in his place.
However, modern business experience recommends keeping the activity history of a resigned employee for at least another six months.

In the records of his activity, essential contacts, URLs, and email addresses can be saved, which can be helpful for the enterprise's further activity and the person who comes to replace the departed specialist.

Thus, if one device in your Staffcounter account stops working and sending data, the Staffcounter server will store its old data until the end of the paid subscription and will not delete it after 105 or 180 days. You can transfer this device to the "Dismissed Employees" department and retrospectively evaluate the activities of the departed employee and identify his contacts and information resources used.

However, if data starts flowing to this device again, the subscription rules will limit the storage period, and the old data will begin to be deleted.

To prevent this, you must avoid subsequent data loading into this device; for example, change its device ID on the server or remove the StaffCounter program from the departing employee's computer.

Using a local StaffCounter server in a secure enterprise without access to the internet is critical to solving the data security problem.

Recently, the issue of data security at various enterprises has become especially relevant. The economic security of a business and the country's political and military security require many companies to disconnect most of their computers from the internet and work offline on the local network. Typically, in such an enterprise, one or two computers are not included in the internal network but are connected to the World Wide Web to search for necessary information and software. The second button, “Send coordinate,” allows you to send the current coordinate out of turn to the StaffCounter server. Sometimes, you need to transmit a location right now without waiting for the monitoring program to complete the time interval. Imagine that you were driving along the road and saw something interesting. But the train or bus won't stop so that you can take a geotagged photo. Using the StaffCounter PRO program, you can transfer coordinates and, after a while, find this place on the map.

And let's talk about corporate phones, where installing instant messengers is not allowed. For example, transmitting coordinates and messages for truck drivers or distributors has become a very convenient communication tool for dispatchers.

Delegation of authority is an important component of management.
A director often needs to appoint an assistant to supervise a department. The assistant director will install the StaffCounter program on employees’ computers and connect it to the director’s account.

Such a manager will be able to distribute programs into categories – business, mail, social networks, communication, entertainment. His responsibilities will also include daily monitoring of the work of the department, recording lateness, absences, and notifying employees of low productivity.

Once a week or month, the manager will report to his boss on the work of the department, accompanying his conclusions with graphical reports provided by the StaffCounter server.

The director, himself, can log into his account on the data.staffcounter website and see the work of all departments of the enterprise. If he has questions about the department, he can ask them to the manager without distracting the department employees.

Such a system, on the one hand, saves the director’s time, and on the other, eliminates direct contact between the director and department employees, while maintaining a high level of control.

How can this be implemented in practice?
First of all, both the director and his assistant must have different accounts on the StafCounter server. Why not one? The director must have access to all divisions of the enterprise, the manager – only to some.
First, a department is created in the director’s office, then this department is placed under the supervision of the assistant. The manager connects employees’ computers to this department using his own email address, not the director’s email address. The account’s email address remains in the computer’s registry, in the Staffcounter folder, and it would not be good for the director’s email address to become public.
The service is designed in such a way that if the director has provided the manager with a department, then when connecting, the manager can use his email address, not the director’s. But the device will be connected to the department of the director, not the manager.

Therefore, a manager cannot be an assistant to several directors at once. It cannot have one department from one director and another one from another.

How much will it cost the company?
There will be only one paid account – this is the director’s account. The assistant account will be free. At the moment when the assistant takes control of the department, he is granted all the privileges of the director’s paid account: he can see screenshots, analytics, reports, and can also change the performance of programs and sites by moving them to others. categories.

Can a manager have his own devices?
A manager may have his own departments with devices, but computers can be connected there either by ID when the device is already existing, or connected before the manager accepts an invitation from the director. Will the manager see the decrypted data?
By default, when encryption is enabled, each account has its own encryption keys. In order for the assistant to see the director’s encrypted departments in decrypted form, he must first enable encryption in his account, and secondly, apply the director’s encryption keys.

To do this, the director opens the “Security” page in his account and exports the key file.
