LUNEX

🚲 Balance Challenge on Wheels!

This Sunday, we joined EUROPEAN MOBILITY WEEK in Differdange with a fun bike course for children to test their balance, coordination and cycling skills.

A fun way to promote active and sustainable mobility from an early age! 👏

🇯🇵 During his Master in Physiotherapy at LUNEX, Pit Brandenburger completed a 6-week clinical placement at Kansai Medical University Hospital in Hirakata, Osaka Prefecture. 🏥

Working in the Medical Sports Department, Pit’s days varied between outpatient consultations, selected inpatient cases, meetings with surgeons and medical staff, research discussions and ultrasound training. He most often worked with patients recovering from shoulder reconstruction surgery, frozen shoulder, posterior ankle impingement syndrome and ACL ruptures.

One of the things he enjoyed most was the close collaboration between the different professionals in the department. 🤝Surgeons, doctors and physiotherapists worked closely together, with doctors regularly seeking the physiotherapists’ clinical input.

“The biggest challenge was definitely the language. I had studied Japanese by myself for four months before coming, around three hours a week, but it was not enough. Osaka people tend to speak very fast and use a lot of slang, so it was a big challenge!”

Despite this, Pit improved throughout the placement and found that making the effort to learn Japanese was essential to communicating with patients and making them feel comfortable. He would recommend the experience, particularly to students interested in Japanese culture and willing to learn some Japanese beforehand.

The placement also opened up potential opportunities for the future, with Pit remaining in close contact with the team and exploring possible research collaborations around swimming-related pathologies.

And outside the hospital, the experience continued with some unforgettable moments, including climbing Mount Fuji and being invited to a professional baseball game with the team. ⚾️🗻

“Overall, it has been an amazing experience, both professionally and personally, and I hope to keep a strong connection with the team in the future.” 🫰

On World Physiotherapy Day, physiotherapy actors in Luxembourg came together at La Belle Etoile to raise awareness about the importance of physiotherapy for health and well-being.

🫀🧠 This year’s focus was on cardiovascular disease and stroke prevention, highlighting the role of physiotherapy in promoting healthy lifestyles while supporting recovery.

A big thank you to ALK, Rehazenter Luxembourg, Hôpitaux Robert Schuman, CHL Luxembourg, Hôpital Intercommunal Steinfort and all the physiotherapists and students involved for making this event a success!
