After 4 weeks of taking it easy, I’m back on the bike!
It feels so good to get my legs moving again. The past weeks were all about rest, building LEGO sets, gaming, board games and puzzle books. I’m feeling good and really happy to finally make those first pedal strokes again💪🏼

Last week, I underwent a successful surgery on both iliac arteries and my home rehabilitation has now started. At the moment I can walk short distances around the house, but I spend most of the day lying on the couch to keep the pain as minimal as possible. I’m grateful for all the excellent care at AZORG Moorselbaan Aalst – thank you to the entire team for the professional and warm support.

made our time on the mountain fly past. Great hotel, views, spa, food, training and company. Couldn’t wish for more this altitude camp, except for some more sun 🤪⛰️

Feeling ready to take on the next set of races: Brussels Cycling Classic, Antwerp Port Epic, Dwars door het Hageland, Baloise Belgium Tour and the Dutch National Championships.

I did everything I could to be at the start of Paris-Roubaix in good shape and without any issues from my injury. Unfortunately, after the training ride last Monday, the injury started bothering me again. Sadly, together with the team, we had to decide that I won’t be starting at Paris-Roubaix. I’m really disappointed to miss my favorite race of the year. The focus now shifts to fully recovering from the injury and it’s also time to recharge the (mental) battery and look ahead to the other beautiful races still to come this year.

I thought I’d had my share of bad luck after the crash in Alula. But after returning to racing in great shape, I suddenly experienced severe pain last Friday during the Tour of Catalonia. It turns out there’s a tear where the Achilles tendon meets the calf muscle—a rare injury for cyclists, making it all the more puzzling.
As a result, I have to withdraw from Dwars door Vlaanderen and possibly the Ronde van Vlaanderen as well. A huge disappointment 😢. Now, my focus is on doing everything I can to prepare for Paris-Roubaix, hoping the tear will heal in time for me to race. Time will tell…

Wow, a win in ! The start of this cycling season was anything but smooth, with a nasty crash at the Saudi Tour. A broken jaw meant weeks of nothing but pureed food. Not ideal when you’re back on the bike again and still need to get the right nutrition in. It was a challenge, but I didn’t have to sit still for long. I worked hard to come back stronger, and it paid off!
I’m incredibly proud of this victory and grateful to everyone who helped make it happen. Ready for more! 💪🏼🔥
