MMB unveils new logo

Maluti Mountain Brewery (MMB) has unveiled a new corporate logo.
Managing Director 'Mapeete Ntjana said the company is moving to a more contemporary and distinctive identity, alighting with the direction of BU South.
Ntjana said the new logo is an update to an identity that has remained unchained since 2019.
“It will better reflect the vibrancy and evolving character of MMB and create greater consistency with the broader BU South identity direction,” she noted.
She explained that the refreshed identity is built on six global core identity principles which together create one distinctive and consistent MMB identity across every identity. These are the logo, colour, typography, graphic language, photography and application.
“The Maluti Mountains are an enduring symbol of Lesotho’s heritage and pride. The timeless strength of the mountains reflects the unconquerable spirit an optimism of Basotho, while gold represents the golden liquid of the quality of products at the heart of our business,” Ntjana added.

Mission 300 brings power to Ha Laka

Ha Laka residents in Thaba-Tseka district will now spend less time collecting firewood following the launch of an initiative aimed at expanding electricity access across Lesotho.
Prime Minister Ntsokoane Matekane said the M800 million World Bank funded project is set to benefit more than 26,000 households and 14,500 families in hard-to-reach areas through solar systems by 2030.
Mission 300 is a continental electricity-access initiative led by the World Bank Group and the African Development Bank, launched in April 2024 with the goal of connecting 300 million Africans to electricity by 2030.
The initiative was endorsed by African Heads of State at the Africa Energy Summit held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, in January 2025.
The project is particularly significant for Lesotho as electricity access increased from seven percent in 2004 to 59 percent in 2024, while rural access remained at 43 percent compared with 84 percent in urban areas.
Through Mission 300-aligned programmes, the country seeks to accelerate electrification, mobilise investment and expand both grid and renewable off-grid solutions, with the ultimate goal of achieving universal electricity access by 2030.

Ministry addresses passport backlog

The Ministry of Home Affairs and Police says it has cleared the passport backlog across all districts.
This comes three months after the government committed to resolving the delays.
In a press statement yesterday, Home Affairs and Police Minister Voeswa Tsheka said the ministry had met the government’s three-month target for clearing outstanding passport applications.
She noted that the ministry has set a service-delivery target of having passports ready for collection within four working days after applicants submit complete applications.
The ministry would continue working to improve passport-service delivery while safeguarding the credibility and integrity of Lesotho’s national travel documents, she added.
