During Ellen’s first term, a 13 year old girl, Angel Togba, was found hanging at the home of her guardians, Hans Williams and Mardea on the old road. Hans was a government official then, deputy MD at the NPA. This very CDC, then in opposition, rallied its supporters to join civil society groups to stage series of mass protests sweeping across Monrovia. Like this Police Spokesperson Carter said “no foul play” in Princess Cooper’s death, so the same as the then government’s first autopsy report also claiming “no foul play” in Angel Togba’s death. The family of Angel Togba rejected the report same way the family of Princess has rejected the report. This prompted the government to conduct THREE different autopsies on Angel’s body. The first autopsy conducted by the government said “no foul play”. It was rejected. The town was hot with this same CDC led protests. The government immediately announced a second autopsy bringing in Cuban pathologists and a team of Ghanaian investigators. The second report indicated that Angel Togba had been tampered with before her death. The lawyer of the accused, Cllr. Musa Dean, who is now this very Justice Minister, rejected the second report. A third autopsy by a team of forensic pathologists, including a DNA test to determine cause of death was announced. The body of Angel Togba was exhumed from the New Georgia cemetery where she had been buried and the third autopsy was conducted. The report revealed strains within with indications of su***de. The report claimed Angel had been troubled over something( three different autopsy reports, three different results). Hans and Mardea were arrested on charges of murder. After seven years of legal battle, they were acquitted by the Supreme Court of Liberia on August 15, 2014,

Similarly, an autopsy on the remains of Princess Cooper has indicated “no foul play”. The difference is this same CDC that joined the family to protest then is now presiding over state securities beating protesters crying for justice including the mother of the late Princess Cooper and civil society actors. They’re the ones now taking about “politicizing a case”. Life has a way of turning around!

Like Ellen’s term, a second autopsy has now been ordered by Weah. It was that second autopsy by a Cuban pathologist that indicated the victim was tampered with. A forensic pathologist will be best to go in-depth in establishing actual cause of death.

So as you are “celebrating” just an announcement to conduct a second autopsy, remember this!

How I wish a same second autopsy would have been ordered on the remains of the four auditors. Why wasn’t it announced? Can you ask yourself? How I wish the entire security sector in the country will muster the same energy and courage it uses to beat peaceful protesters crying for justice to find the three missing boys or tell us at least where their whereabouts are. Three living human beings can not just get missing like that and we think that’s no problem. Justice for all!
